"Hello?" I carefully opened my eyes and the sun is already shining brightly outside. I guess I overslept again.

"Are you okay?" The other line said

"Yes, just another headache but I'm fine. What time is your checkup?"

"Yeah, I figured. You are usually up at this hour and you weren't answering my text and calls. You don't have to come with me if you are not up for it"

"What are you talking about of course I'll go with you"

"Are you sure?"

"DAPHNE" she knows I'm serious when I call her that.

"Okay, my appointment is at 10 am. Should I come and fetch you?"

"No need. And you know what I don't think it's okay for you to keep on driving"

"Oh please nothing that I can't handle"

"Don't be ridiculous. I'll come and get you"

"I don't think that's a possible miss. I'll come to you. It's not good for you to drive if you are not feeling well"

"Na-ah. Why don't I just make a call to Mang Ed then? We won't be able to get ready if we keep this up haha!"

"Good thinking. Fine, so it's settled then?"

"Yup. See you" I look at the time on my phone and it's 7:30 in the morning, I  quickly made a call to Mang Ed, and thankfully he doesn't have anything scheduled this morning. I got an hour which is sufficient enough to get ready.

Dee was already outside of their gate when Mang Ed and I arrived at the subdivision.

"Are you sure you want to sit here? I'm gonna open the window" I insisted for her to take the front seat but she chose to sit at the back too.

"Yeah, I don't mind but just open your side of the window okay?"

"Well okay. Don't complain of an oily face later because I warned you"

"Yup and I want to sit with you. It hurts to talk over your shoulder" she grinned.

"Well, we could just ride in silence?" I half-joked.

"Are you seriously gonna bore a pregnant woman for an hour?"

"Not unless there is traffic then we will be at the hospital the soonest"

"Rachel Leslie Reyes" she faced me putting one hand on her waist.

"Okayyy. What do you want to know?"

"That's more like it. How was last night?" This girl keeps on grinning, Urgh!

"Fine" I simply said

"That's it?"

"Uh-huh"

"Come on, care to tell me more?"

"There's nothing more to tell you"

"You are so boring"

"It's not like you haven't known it since"

"Rachel?!"

"What?"

"Look at the traffic. Please don't give me that 'ride in silence' rule of yours" the pregnant lady said.

"Hmmm" I looked at the line of cars in front of us so yeah I guess arriving at the hospital earlier isn't happening at all.

"Will you really do that to a pregnant woman?" My friend said with a pleading gaze

"And are you really gonna use that from now on?"

"Not all the time I guess" she laughed and I can't help but smile too.

"fine, what?"

"First of all where did he take you"

"at my special place and it's not like you don't know that already" she smirked

"Guilty?" She smiled again "well he asked for help I can't just ignore a handsome man like that"

"of course, I knew you would easily sell me"

" Awww, stop it. Don't make me feel guilty now" she said nudging my side.

"I assume you also told him about that piece right?"

"What piece?"

"The one he played last night"

"Ahhhhhhhhh. He what?" She shrieked.

"Nevermind"

"No really what did he play?"

" nothing"

"Okay, maybe I did tell him that you often become sentimental when people play the piano there. But for your information, I never said anything about the- what is it called again? see I can't even remember now. It was all him, how do you feel about that then?" She squealed in delight getting excited and all.

"Nothing" Dee is the type of person who listens to music but doesn't actually remember it afterward.

"Nothing?"

"Yup because I left after that"

"What?!" I just smiled at her.

It was 9:45 am when the hospital is finally visible insight. Dee is obviously nervous because she became quiet as we step foot inside.

The doctor clinic is located just beside the hospital and I know for sure Dee is feeling a  sentimental attachment to the place because she's holding my arm so tight I had to break free from it.

"Sorry," she said

"Hey, don't be nervous. It's gonna be okay. "

"I hope so" we took a seat while waiting for Dee's turn. She's leaning her head on my shoulder while I try to comfort her the best way I can.

The Doctor took a second glance at Dee and before I knew it they embraced each other like long lost friends.

"It's nice to see you again Daphne" Irish, Mariella G., MD her plate reads.

"I know. I'm sorry for not keeping in touch with you"

"Oh don't worry about that"

"But seriously, I'm happy to see you"

"Me too" It turns out the ob-gyne is Justin's cousin. I'm not sure by what they mean earlier but that's for them to know and for Dee to tell me or not.

"By the way, where's Justin?" I saw the change of expression on Dee's face when Mariella asked her that. She's carefully placing a gel on Dee's abdomen.

"He doesn't know about it yet so I asked Rachel to come with me. Can you keep it a secret, please? I want to surprise him" I'm not quite sure if Dee is actually telling the truth or half the truth. I myself don't seem to know her sometimes but who am I judge?

"Okay. I got you" was her only response and I kinda hoped she meant it or at least wait for Dee to tell him herself.

The ultrasound went as quickly as possible. Although Dee tried to stop me from getting out of the room I was firm and excused myself to give them time to talk about it. I always believed that people will tell you what they want to share with you when they want to and not because they have to. So that's what I'm doing right now I know this is a sensitive topic for Dee so I want her to not feel the pressure of me being there and it looks like they have a lot to catch up on.
