"You're  joking again right?" If only I am then I would not feel sorry for Flute. Before he left the restaurant he actually asked me where he can take Rachel for dinner for the first time ever this boy right here doesn't have any ideas. We even laughed together when I joked that his magic is fading.

"No, I'm afraid not"

"But Daph I thought you said she already agreed?"

"Yeah. But I didn't expect she would use the backdoor and I can't reach her too. I'm sorry"

"This is not happening" he looked downcast as he steady his eyes on the floor. I am trying to find out the words to console him but it looks like nothing would help, poor Flute he really feels dejected.

"You would still try next time right?
Rachel is a nice girl it just does not show in her face but wait until you get to know her better remember first impressions last haha" I said making sure he is not backing out already. Where the hell did that girl go? Yes, she did not show up on her past blind dates but she always tells me about it. Rachel could be stubborn sometimes but she is a considerate person never did she once forgot to inform me because she makes sure I tell the guy before he wastes his time waiting for no one at a certain place and since I was the one who set it up then I am in charge of it.

"Yeah. I guess I gotta have to make a call and cancel my reservation" almost a decade of knowing Flute and I never saw him downhearted about a girl. Wow, I thought. If only my friend could learn to unlock her heart then maybe just maybe this man right here is the one for her. I know its too early for presumptions but seeing Rachel happy with someone would make me the happiest of us all.

"I'm really sorry that wasn't expected of her. She never backs out of her word. Let me try calling her again" I said and started dialing her number but Flute stopped me before I can even press the call button.

"That's alright maybe she doesn't really want to go with me. I can't force that now can I?" What a gentleman.

"You know I've got everything a girl can ever ask for, right? but your friend seems to be not interested in me. Why?" we both laughed at his arrogant joke and if jokes are half meant then the former is true and for the latter, we don't know that for sure only Rachel could answer that.

At a quarter to five in the afternoon Flute was about to leave but an unexpected thing happened. His eyes were all focused on the entrance staring at the girl about to enter the restaurant. He opened the door for her and I'm not sure if she said thank you but the look on Flute's face was priceless.

"What?" Rachel said as she makes her way towards me. I might not have noticed my smile but maybe I was just too happy she showed up.

"Where have you been?" I whispered

"Home"

"Why?"

"Had to change my clothes" she said as she leans closer "red days"

"Seriously?" I laughed

"Yup. I wasn't expecting it too my period is supposed to be next week"

"Girl, you should have told me, care to text me next time?"

"I'm sorry I forgot my phone at the office which reminds me it could have  been dead by now I forgot to charge it earlier"

"That explains it your date was about to leave"

"My what?"

"Your date," I said pointing at Flute. I knew it she didn't even bother to look at the person who opened the door for her.

"Ha. You're early" she said.

"Flute" I had to call his name before he came back to his senses, from the entrance to where I and Rachel are standing right now the only thing he did was stare at her. Now you mention it Rachel did not only change her clothes but dressed into something appropriate for the evening which she seldom does.

"You're not making up about that red stain are you" I smirked while I look at her from head to toe.

"Of course not. That would be lame of me"

"Are you sure?" I teased.

"Yes!"

"Okay fine I'll stop now. You know you made me speechless there for a second I thought you abandoned your date without even telling me"

"Well, I'm already here so you don't have to worry about that now unless you want me to think about it again?"

"No! Of course not, Haha!" We both smiled.

"Why did you have to walk through the backdoor then? You could have just passed through here" Rachel shrugged her shoulders while looking at the man coming in our direction.

"I don't know, I just wanted to and besides I was gonna come back anyways you know I keep my words right?"

"Yes" I know I sounded a little guilty. Part of me felt culpable for being skeptical earlier. I should put my trust in Rachel more, Ha-Ha!

"Ahem" as if to make his presence known Flute cleared his throat. Rachel moved beside me and they are now facing each other.

"Mr. Gonzales, I hope you have not made that call yet?"

"I'm glad I didn't," he said smiling from ear to ear. Oh, stop it you two you are both making me thrilled.

"You are early," Rachel said again.

"Well, I like to be punctual on our first date and our next dates after this."

"Ha. You wish!"

"You said that earlier and look," Flute said gesturing at the situation "wish granted" he winked.

"Will the both of you leave already? The ants gonna be here anytime if you don't"

"But it is still an hour before 6," Rachel said.

"So? The early birds catch the worm"

"What? I don't get the connection "

"Just go," I said pushing her in the back for the door.

"Alright alright I'll walk myself out but I just have to get my phone real quick"

"She's not gonna walk through the backdoor again right?" He joked.

"Then start praying she won't" I joked back while we both stare at the kitchen door waiting for my friend to return.

At last, she did and I cannot help but smile. She looked at Flute motioning him to go first

"After you," Flute said, and off they go.
