"Hello?" I answered the phone in an uncertain voice [What are you doing?] Said a voice in the background which I instantly knew was Rachel.

"Calling somebody" I heard Daphne laugh so I take it that she was the one who dialed my number. My heart jumped for joy when I saw my girl's name on my screen, I'm a little angry right now for what she did last night and mildly sulking that she wasn't the one to initiate the call but I guess this isn't that bad at least I get to hear her voice.

"Hi Flute someone wants to talk to you," Daphne said enthusiastically

[Rachel! Come back here]

[No! I thought we agreed I'll be the one to text him]

[Well it might take forever for you so better do it now]

"Hang on," Daphne said. I can hear them murmuring in the background but I can't quite understand what they are saying now maybe Daph put the phone in a distance

[Okay]

"Uhmm. Hello," she said in an apathetic tone.

"Hi" If she can only see my excitement just by hearing her voice, now I'm not even angry anymore. Haha!

"I'm sorry about last night. That was rude of me"

"I'm glad you know" I answered back using her same exact words hoping she'll somewhat woo me but unfortunately

"Okay," was the only answer I got

"Wait that's it?" I quickly said because it seems like she was about to hang up the phone

"Yes"

"Are you serious?" Really? That's it?

"What more are you expecting"

"Buy me dinner" why am I the one persuading her right now?

"What?" Her tone has changed and I can imagine the frown forming on her face right now but I let it slide because I can't waste this opportunity

"Aren't you supposed to be the one buying me dinner yesterday? But you left in a rush that I ended up paying for it so you owe me twice. One, for leaving me and two, for making me pay for the food"

"You're kidding right?" Of course, I am. I don't mind paying for the food

"No, I don't think so. Someone told me that it is better to apologize personally than through a call "

"Is that so? And who said that"

"Me" I laughed

"Fine. When do you want to have dinner?"

"Hey, don't sound like that you are making me feel a bad person right now like I'm forcing you"

"Like it isn't obvious," she said in a mumble. [Ouch!] I heard her say so I guess Daphne is just beside her. I owe Daph a lot lately haha!

"So 5 pm is alright with you?" I would have been on my way now if not only because of my Dad. I promised to play golf with him today so here we are at a gold course spending half of the entire day.

"Don't you think that's too early for dinner?"

"No, and we have to consider the rush hour. Traffic has gotten worse lately" of course that's a half-truth and half-lie I just want to see her the soonest.

"I still think that's too early for us to meet"

"Come on, are you planning to eat and leave right away again? Is that why 5 pm is too early for you"

"Fine. You talk a lot"

"Hmm.I'll see you at the restaurant then?"

"No. I'll meet you wherever we are eating"

"What. Why?"

"Just-- tsk! Do you want me to change my mind?" I would not want that.

"Okay fine," I said in defeat

"I'll text you the location"

"Copy that see you later love" if only you can see my wink through the phone.

Two years of staying away since my Dad left me in charge of the business abroad and only coming back to the Philippines twice is leaving me in awe of all the new buildings and establishment I passed by earlier.

I followed her instructions to keep driving straight after taking a curve to the right, surely at no more than a minute the silhouette of the restaurant is finally showing, and it is just how she described it to me.

It's a one-story building with space that can accommodate an estimate of more than five hundred guests. The parking lot is spacious as well that it was not hard for me to find a spot.
The glass walls are nothing new to me but the look of the inside is so refined and elegant that I'm entirely regretting not knowing of this restaurant the soonest. I went inside and my date was already seated at a corner. She was wearing a black bandana on the head with a little white flower design which is new to her choice of fashion but nevertheless suits her.

I thought she was busy texting that she hasn't noticed me seating across from her but she looked at me and I was caught off guard when our eyes met.

"This place is charming," I said and pretended to look around although I already did that earlier.

"Yes it is," she said in a genial manner, which is the first time for her

"You are here early, you should have told me"

"That's okay, I am only fifteen minutes earlier than you"

" yes but still sorry for making you wait"

"Tsk! It is not a big deal we are to meet at five in the afternoon but look at the time it's 20 minutes before it, we are both early "

"Okay. Should we order now?" I asked her

"Yah sure. What do you want to eat then?" She asked me and slightly raised her hand to call the server while I made myself busy scanning through the menu

"I'll have a seafood pesto. How about you?"

"I'll have the chicken pesto," she said to the waiter standing beside me

"Drinks?" He asked

"I'll have hot tea please" the waiter nods and writes down her order while she got busy texting someone yet again

"Coffee for me," I said and just waited for her to be done on what she is doing right now. Please don't tell you're gonna stay with your phone the whole time

"I'm sorry," she might have noticed me glaring at her phone and put it inside her bag

"That's okay" I smiled. That's more like it .
