PART 15

Throughout the night I thought of how I should ask her out but ended up with no ideas at all. There's something that makes her different from the other girls that I've dated. So here I am back at the restaurant again just planning to go with the flow. Carpe Diem!

"You don't seem to be busy these days Flute," Daphne said at the counter when I entered the door giving me that look where she obviously knows the reason I'm here.

"Well I'm finally getting under my vacation" I smirked.

"You are here to see Rachel?"

"Hm-mmm. She's here right?"

"No, she isn't," she said as she takes a seat

"What? Why didn't you tell me?" I wanted to apologize because my voice got a little loud when I said that.

"Well, you should have cared to ask first before you showed up here?" She said sarcastically that my face probably changed its expression

"I'm kidding you are so serious she's in her office" Ha! Thank God.

"You got me there for a second" finally exhaling a deep breath.

"I just wanted to see your reaction if only you could have seen your face," Daphne said laughing.

"I'm glad you are finding this funny I thought I came all the way here for nothing"

"Haha! Well lucky for you, but I'm not sure if she will let you in. Sorry"  what again?

"Daph, don't be like that it's me Flute," I said pointing at myself reminding her that we have known each other for so long.

"Yup, I'm fully aware but that's also my best friend and I'm pretty sure she won't let you in unless she's expecting you?" She isn't choosing her over me, right?

"Uhmm. Kinda?" I said while scratching my head.

"Haha. Nice try but no. Maybe if you want to wait 'forever' then we have a lot of seats available" I know she's being sarcastic again I didn't know she'll take my words literally yesterday I mean yeah I could wait but NO! this is not happening! Not today.

"Pretty please?"

"Na ah. Sorry" Daphne said and giving me the stop sign using her hand.

"But you were the one who gave her number and I thought you said you fully support me. What happened to that Daph?" I said emphasizing the fact.

"I know. But I'll be the one to get in trouble if I let you in."

"I just want to ask her out on a date"

"A date?" I think that got her attention so I did what I do best.

"Uh-huh. But it looks like I won't be able to" giving her my best performance of being disheartened.

"Oh please don't give me that act Flute. I know what you are doing"

"Well is it working?" I smiled.

"Fine but let me just be clear we work professionally here alright? Even though we three are friends we still stay professional at work so I'm just doing this like a favor clear?"

"I know and I'm gonna owe you one"

"You can easily spot the office it has glass walls. Please tell her you just barge in yourself" she said while gesturing me to the door.

"Copy. Thank you Daph I really owe you one" I said and made my way at once.

An unexplainable aroma greeted me as I opened the door of the kitchen. The mixture of sizzling and sauteed foods lingering around. At the cooking area, I saw the Head Chef giving orders back and forth, some stared at me as I walk past them may be wondering who I was but the others were too busy at there different stations to even take notice of me. I made a turn to the left and saw two doors at the corner one with an Administrators's office sign while the other one without but has a glass door.  I did not have to choose which is which as I get closer because I can already see her sitting inside.

I knocked at the door and waited for her to open it but she just remained seated and stared at me. I figured she won't even bother so I invited myself inside.

"What are you doing here?" She plainly said.

"Is it really your habit to welcome a guest that way"

"Seriously, who let you in?" We are now facing each other and I understand why Daphne was hesitant earlier. This girl in front of me doesn't look happy I'm here.

"No one I barged in alone"

"So Daphne did not see you enter?" She asked raising an eyebrow

"Uhmmm. Yes"

"Liar" that got me nervous all of a sudden

"Okay so maybe she did let me in but please don't take it out on her I was the one who insisted" she looked at me but said nothing and focused her eyes on the papers she was clearly studying before I came to disturb her.

"Aren't you gonna offer me a seat"

"Make yourself comfortable" then silence. I usually don't run out of words but every time I'm with her I do. I looked around the office and it was in a tidy state. You can say that the person who uses this room is a minimalist the only main thing you could see is a leather sofa, her desk, and a mahogany bookcase. I can't take the silence anymore so I purposely cleared my throat hoping she'll stop pretending I wasn't there. I cleared my throat again for the second time and at last, it worked. She stopped whatever it is that she was writing and put the pen down.

"I'm sorry, but as you can see I am busy right now"

"I know that's why I'm only asking for a little bit of your time"

"You've got five minutes"

"I just came to tell you personally that I'll be picking you up at 6 pm for our dinner"

"Our? I don't remember making plans with you"

"Na ah. We actually did yesterday"

"No, we didn't"

"Yes, we did! And you are in no position to say no"

"And why is that?"

"Because you owe me one"

"When did I owe y-- " she stopped seeming to remember our conversation yesterday "you were the only one who agreed on that and how does dinner make up for it"

"How do you plan to repay me then"

"Repay you for what?"

"For accepting your apology"

"Huh?" Her mouth remained slightly open may be thinking for a comeback.

"Now now don't make this conversation even longer since I've only got five minutes with you. I'll pick you up at 6 pm sharp and don't bother wearing fancy what you have on right now is fine with me." I smiled as I look at her in the eyes.

"You wish"

"See you later love" I turned my back around and helped myself out. I was smiling on my way out of the Kitchen thinking where the hell did my guts came from.
