*Magnus's pov*

Storm comes behind Dan, raising a frying pan over his head. He brings it down and bashes it against his head. I keep my eyelids partially open, using all my willpower to not gauge Storm's eyes out.

"How long left?"

"I'd say about half an hour. Let's go over the plan again. We steal the Bakugan and use them against the faculty. Force them to surrender, or kill them if they are being particularly annoying."

"And then?" Haavik pushes

"We can do whatever we like." Storm shrugs

"This is going to be so much fun! Oh, the entertainment!"

"Is the helicopter ready?"

"Yes. Come on, let's make breakfast."

"With the pan, you just hit Dan with?" Haavik exclaims

"Why not? And it's the only one we have."

I seize the opportunity.

I press my hand against the glass window. Emily creeps out of bed and does the same. She breathes into the glass and creates a sentence using her finger and the steam.

I love you.

I do the same.

I love you, too.

A tear leaks out of the corner of her cheek and slides down her face. My heart pangs, we spent so long apart, to be untied again. And then separated.

I grab Dan and sling him onto my shoulders. I groan I expected Dan to be a little lighter, despite all the food he eats. This is the burnt ashes of the previous academy. They moved Emily here too, 'make it easier to maintain' I carry Dan with me and make it to the helicopter pad. I open the door and creep inside, Dan on my shoulders. I grab the hairpin Emily gifted me, and jammed it into the lock, fiddling until it gave way with a satisfactory click. I open the lid and climb in. The chest is more spacious than it looks, thankfully.

Dan's eyelids flutter open, before he opens his mouth, I press a finger to his lips. He glances at me, eyes popping. I remove my finger and wait for the helicopter to move. After a while, my muscles begin to ache after being cramped up for so long. I shove Dan's face away from mine since he's been breathing in my face for the past half an hour. He opens his mouth but catches himself just in time. We land, and we patiently wait for them to get out. I hesitate, checking if they're gone could risk everything. I peek my head out, making sure it's clear. I push the lid and step out. I offer Dan my hand.

"My knight in shining armour." He giggles. I roll my eyes and huff "Not the time." We follow the traitors, keep a distant space apart. Dan scrunches his face, and I shove my finger under his nose. He exhales and smiles. A minute later he sneezes. Haavik and Storm whip around, and I internally curse Dan.

"Well well well, you've come to stop us, eh?"

"You won't get away with this!" Dan exclaims

My expression dulls, "Really? The best thing you could say?" I deadpan.

Haavik jams numbers into the lock. The door unlocks, and with a snap of his fingers, the Bakugan are magnetically drawn to him.

*Dan's pov*

"Bakugan Brawl!" Several Bakugan spawn and Magnus grips my hand.

"Continue the plan, I have things to attend to."

"Go!"

"I'm not leaving you!"

"Shut the fuck up, and go!" Magnus urges, shoving me to the door. I have no other choice but to go after Storm. He turns many corridors, I struggle to keep up. I hide behind the wall.
