17: Early Start

3rd person pov:

Dabi finds himself having the same dream. He's under water and sinking no matter how much he tries to swim. So as dabi is about to give up. He feels something wrap around him to pull him up. That's when he sees a brused and bloodied Hawks making a chain of feathers to pierce the water and pull him out. Just as dabi is about to break the surface of the water. He opens his eyes and finds himself in the belly of a ship.

Dabi:"Shit."

Dabi sits up and takes a swig of his flask before getting up for the day.

Once out in the fresh air up top. Dabi whinces at the bright sunrise. So a wing blocks it for him.

Haw:"Can we go out for a walk today"

Dabi:"I gotta help out first."

Baku:"Hawks has helped enough for the both of you. Just be back here by noon."

Dabi doesn't say anything. As Hawks picks dabi up and glides them down to the beach.

Once dabi is on his feet. Hawks told his hand and dabi notices hold tight his grip is.

Dabi:"What's the matter?"

Haw:"Today I'll be leaving my home for the first time ever."

Dabi:"Wanna take one last look around?"

Hawks nods and nuzzle close to dabi. As they walk around. Hawks begins to reminis. He even shows dabi to a graveyard that he made for the humans he killed to survive.

Haw:"I'm not a complete monster. So I tried my best to give their remains a looper send off. Even making their deaths as painless as possible."

Dabi grabs Hawks head to push it to his chest.

Dabi:"You don't have to convince me. I can see good in you."

As they get to the garden. Dabi sees a few of Bakugou's crew picking everything clean. So they keep walking. Only to eventually end up at the cave dabi stayed at.

Hawks picks up the collar he wore for so long. As memories flood Hawks mind. His body trembles as tears fall onto the leather in his hands.

Dabi:"Take it with us. That way you'll have a keepsake of home."

Hawks nods and puts it in a cloth bag.

Haw:"I'm heading up to say goodbye to them. Would you like to come with me?"

Dabi:"Of course."

After dabi grabs his instrument. They head up by walking up a path.

That's when dabi sees two Graves. As Hawks sits over them and places both wings on each. He lowers his head to pray.

Dabi sits beh8nd Hawks and puts his head between his wings.

Dabi:"Sorry for taking your baby boy away. It's my fault that he has to leave. I hope thar in time. I'll prove to you both that I'm worthy of his love."

Hawks hears Dabi's words and smiles.

Haw:"So long as we're together. There's nothing for you to prove. "

Dabi kisses the back of hawks neck before stepping away.

Dabi:"I'll be by the cave when you're finished."

Haw:"Can you play that beautiful song again for me?"

Dabi nods and pats Hawks head. As dabi goes to take the long way around. A feather tugs of Dabi's shirt and shows him to a staircase that's hidden by a bush. So dabi takes the shortcut down. Only to find himself in the back of the cave.

As dabi sets up to play. He hears voices that he doesn't recognize.  So he peeks out to see aizawa sniffing the air.

Dabi:^Shit they sent a party ahead of the fleet.^

Hawks soon walks down the same stairs and sees dabi lean8ng against the wall with his head down.

Haw:"Babe, what's wrong?"

Dabi sighs.

Dabi:"All of this was unnecessary. It's not like I actually love you. Now that we're about to leave. I've gotten all that I could ever want from you. Now I can go home."

Hawks eyes widen and as he walks closer to dabi.

Haw:"You don't mean that. I can see it in your eyes."

Dabi looks in hawks eyes. His eyes are serious and cold.

Dabi:"I only used you to get what I wanted. Now back the fuck off me."

Dabi pushes Hawks back. So Hawks grabs his own chest where dabi made contact.

Dabi:"Thanks for the everything freak."

Dabi walks out of the cave and hawks knees buckle as he begins to cry. Dabi raises his arms and walks up to aizawa.

Dabi:"I'm right here. Now let's go meet my old man."

As the men begin to tie dabi up. Aizawa keeps walking towards the cave.

Dabi:"Oi! Let's go already!"

Hawks looks up in anger. Only for something to catch his eye. Half buried in the sand is Dabi's necklace.

Hawks picks it up in confusion and peeks outside of the cave to see dabi being restrained. Only for dabi to look his way with the eyes of someone trying to hold back their fear with anger and sarrow.

As Hawks goes to take a step out of the cave. A hand comes up from behind him and covers Hawks mouth before dragging him back.

Aiz:"Let's get back to the ship. By now, the boss has most likely got shoto and his kidnappers."
