"Donnia... no, damn it all!!!"
Ash began to radiate with a deadly heat, and his eyes were totally replaced by flames. He slowly looked up at the man standing over Donnia's dead body. With Donnia's head in his hand, the man smirked.
"I wanna see you fight me after you've lost it all, sound familiar, kid?!"
Ash remembered the day he destroyed the orphanage, and the ten years he spent with Donnia afterwards flashed before his eyes.
"Sound... familiar? Have you lost your mind?! I'll kill you, Midas!!!!!!!"
Ash charged a Midas at full speed, and his intent to kill was so powerful that it could be felt all throughout the entire Eastern Sands. Everyone in the area cleared out, afraid of what might happen if a bystander was caught in the crossfire. Midas met Ash and began to exchange blows. They fought at full strength, neither daring to pull even a single punch. Ash leaped into the air and hurled down fire balls at Midas, barely giving him room to breathe. Midas jumped up after him, in his suit of golden armor and grabbed Ash's feet, swinging him and tossing him down into the sand.
"It ain't gonna be easy kid!"
Midas lunged at Ash, viciously attacking him with everything he had while laughing hysterically. Ash took heavy shots to the head and body and seemed to be dazed. Midas eventually tired himself out and his blows began to lose their brutal force.
"Is that... all you can do? Because if so, you're already dead!!!"
Ash shot out a straight right hand, knocking Midas back several feet. With his head down, he pointed a finger at Midas.
"I'll finish it with this!"
Suddenly flowers made of fire filled the Sands around them. The pedals slowly floated up into the air, gently. Suddenly the pedals rushed towards Midas, trapping his entire body in the fiery flowers. Midas screamed out in agony, scratching and clawing at the pedals of fire. Slowly the pedals began to burn out, and under laid a scorched Midas, barely clinging to his life. The fire in Ash's eyes blew out like a candle, and he toppled over from exhaustion. The two laid there in the middle of the street of sand for hours, and before long, even the few brave spectators had left the area.
As a light rain started to fall, Ash woke up and brought himself to his knees. He looked around at the dark, empty area around him, and realized the Midas was already gone. He looked to his left and saw the body of the person he'd grown to love more than anything in the world.
"D-Donnia..."
--
"This is the place."
Ash kneeled in front of where the old orphanage once stood. In front of him was Donnia's lifeless body. Ash looked down and pushed her eyes closed, careful not to move her head that he loosely reattached to her body. With his head down, he put his hand on her chest, and tears began to stream from his eyes.
"Please Donnia, forgive me, I wasn't strong enough to protect any of you in the end."
And without another word, Ash let his hand glow brightly, and slowly, Donnia's body began to glow as well, and slowly her body turned into red-hot ashes, and softly floated away. Ash stood up, and wiped his tears.
"Time to complete my mission, father."
--
A crowd gathered in front of the news stand. Ash was walking by when he heard something that caught his attention.
"Great Eight Gordias is dead?!"
Ash walked up to the stand, and asked for a paper. Right on the front page, Gordias's head laid in the sand with an expression of fear on his lifeless face.
The headline read, "SON OF THE LEGENDARY MIDACO AVENGES FATHER IN DEATHMATCH!"
"Looks like he's pretty strong after all."
Ash walked away, he lost himself in his thoughts, trying to think where his little brother might go to hide after killing a member of The Great Eight. As Ash thought over every location with the Desert Continent, he walked past a wanted board. On the left side was a list of known triggers. He saw both himself and his brother Medikus, a girl named Dormia, a girl named Trista, and a guy named Kruise. Under them was a well known wrangler named Glacio, and a woman named Natura, who was known simply for popping up anywhere without warning. She was a wanderer, and she rarely stayed in one spot for long. Under those two was a man feared nearly as much as Midaco was feared during his time. Igneous, the man who freed the Lost Sands.
"The only Trigger whose whereabouts are common knowledge. That's where he's headed."
Ash took to the skies immediately, so fast that the people around him didn't even see him leave, just his patented trail of red hot ash.
--
Ash was almost there when he saw the lightning strike! He could see a figure appear from the lightning.
"That must be him!"
Ash landed and leisurely followed his brother into a nearby bar. The people stared at them, muttering amongst themselves. Ash sat down right next to Medikus, without even introducing himself. Medikus gave him a sideways glance.
"Nice jacket."
Ash chuckled.
"You too, little brother."
