[Parbos - Resident Cabin. Hanging from the ceiling are multiple shamanic wards, dried herbs, spices and tightly bound parcels of white sage. A bright calming cauldron brews a rather unpleasant smelling stew, with the fire and embers beneath providing a warm and soothing light to the rest of the one-roomed residence. Enter Clyde Arrowny, as he sits in a dusty wooden chair, covered in dried white paint marks. Each slight movement he makes causes the chair to rock on the uneven surface, the creaking floorboards filling in the silence between him an an unknown man]
Parbos Resident: That was mighty careless of you boy.
[The Parbos Resident hobbles eagerly to the cauldron, taking a slight sip of the simmering contents of the cauldron, spitting it back into the stew in disgust. Clyde Arrowny's face drops under his mask, surely he would not be made to have some of it?]
Clyde Arrowny: My apologies if you were expecting some sort of spectacle. Didn't want to wake the locals.
Parbos Resident: Ah but the moment those waters stirred you did awake them boy. The ones who were unfortunate enough!
[Clyde Arrowny already had his suspicions about what had taken place in Parbos, but he knew better than most that rumours, though oftentime exaggerated, rarely told the full story]
Clyde Arrowny: And what exactly did happen here? Parbos was hardly known as a tourist destination, I'm suspecting recently introduced 'aquatic life' is what has been driving everyone away.
Parbos Resident: Ah but you can't fool me assassin. You're here to put a stop to him aren't you? and you sure don't look like you keep any prisoners.
Clyde Arrowny: [nods in response to the elderly man] I wasn't trying to fool you. Just trying to understand what exactly is going on here, I'm here for personal reasons, not business, just so happens that the two overlap.
Parbos Resident: Everything is connected. There is no such thing as a coincidence. The wanderer goes by the name of Lazarus, or 'Ace' as he told those who confided in him. Our Mayor was won over instantly by his magical prowess and the promises he had whispered into the hearts of our people.
Clyde Arrowny: What were those promises?
Parbos Resident: To bring back a loved one [he pauses as an eery grin begins to form] from death.
[Clyde Arrowny's heart immediately skips a beat as his chest begins to tighten, he feels a burning in his chest upon hearing this, what if this 'Ace' could actually achieve such a feat? could he be reunited with Bonnie once more? was this the reason the shadows tried to keep him away from Parbos]
Parbos Resident: Intrigues you too does it boy? [he lefts off a raspy laugh as Clyde Arrowny stares at his rotten grin]
Clyde Arrowny: It would intrigue anybody who has suffered loss would it not? doesn't mean for a second I believe it doesn't come without consequence.
Parbos Resident: Don't be fooled. Or you'll end up like the rest of us. If the undead don't finish you off starvation will.
Clyde Arrowny: [nods in acknowledgment to his advice] So, this Lazurus fellow is with the Mayor? or at least at his residence.
[The Parbos Resident begins to pour the contents of the cauldron into two unwashed and chipped bowls, offering one to Clyde Arrowny who politely declines]
Parbos Resident: Suit yourself. You'll find him on the opposite side of town, by the manor. Judging from your ability to fend for yourself you won't make it very far though.
[Clyde Arrowny chooses to ignore the snide remark, as he peaks through the windows. The coast is clear for now. He turns back to the Parbos Resident]
Clyde Arrowny: Say, what is in the broth anyways?
[An even wider, more sinister grin begins to form on the Parbos Resident's face, he mouths a single word to Clyde Arrowny before bringing the broth to his lips]
"F L E S H"
(Parbos Resident)
