[Doma - Throne Room. The King of Doma sits on his throne, surrounded by his advisors and several guards. Elayne Petite-Clémentine stands beside her father, a well-established nobleman and close friend to the king. Enter a battle-exhausted Kaien, gripping his sword firmly until he ensures the king is safe, The threat has been neutralised.]
King of Doma: Kaien, What is the latest?
Kaien: Their warship hath fallen, and the remnant soldiers who did breach our defences have all yielded.
King of Doma: Without your help, I'm afraid the outcome would be quite different. While I was skeptical of my late father's choice to welcome a samurai from another land amongst our ranks, you've proven that there is strength in the race of humes. You are our retainer, Doma's retainer.
[Kaien nods in approval of the King of Doma's praise for his actions.]
Kaien: I could not have accomplished this alone; 'twas a joint endeavor. Our strengths are most greatly displayed when united 'gainst a common foe. If thou wouldst excuse me, I must return to aid Kuraido.
King of Doma: Permission to leave, granted.
[Enter Clyde Arrowny. As he walks in silence, his expressionless face stares directly ahead as the lifeless body of Angela Petite-Clémentine is held in his arms. Elayne Petite-Clémentine's face drops as her eyes scan the room, her head looking in the direction she last saw her younger sister. Her father rushes towards Clyde Arrowny.]
Frederik Petite-Clémentine:[wails] My baby! what have you done to her?!
[Clyde Arrowny passes the body of Angela Petite-Clémentine to her father Frederik Petite-Clémentine, has he tightly cradles her body into his chest, uncontrollably sobbing. Elayne Petite-Clémentine quickly approaches, screaming hysterically.]
Kaien:[shakily] What happened Kuraido?!
Clyde Arrowny: She brought down their flagship, defeated Equipoise and paid the ultimate price.
Elayne Petite-Clémentine:[to Clyde Arrowny] This is all of your fault! if you had just been kind to her, treated her like a person, told her you were proud! She had to die and for what? to win your approval?!
King of Doma: Kuraido, she is just upset, do not take it to heart. The loss of life at the hands of the empire is something we cannot forget. Both of you fought valiantly to rid of us their oppression.
Elayne Petite-Clémentine: Yet he lives, a coward! Kaien! you tried your best with this monster, taught him so much, but nothing could drive the cowardice and selfishness from inside him!
Clyde Arrowny:[to Kaien] Dōmo.
[Exit Clyde Arrowny]
Kaien: Goodbye, whoever thou art.
