Run.

The wind was howling outside the giant building.

Run.

The lights turned off in the gymnasium one by one.

Run.

The cold vapor in the air was visible, a white blanket covering the metal grated ground. A blue light on and off repeatedly above.

...

Flick flick.

A flickering light illuminated a board full of papers, schedules reminders. Most importantly,

Missing posters.

Run.

Panting could be heard from a feminine drone. She sped past to bulletin board, making the posters bottom edge fly upwards as she did so.

Exhausted, she thumped against the wall, hitting her shoulder.

Red code flashed around her eye-area, cracking her glasses as pieces fell to the floor.

She took them off for a moment, her vision becoming blurred. She looked up from the destroyed lenses, in front of her.

Flick flick.

A drone's silhouette was illuminated for a split second as a light turned on and off.

She put the glasses back on.

No one. Nobody there.

Red code spun around a security camera nearby.

It broke. Twisted backward.

She looked in front of her again to see a drone.

Long hair folded over their shoulders and face, looking down with limp limbs. They raised their hand up, the same red code flying and exploding around it.

It appeared around the girls wrist, bringing her arm out next to her.

With a flick of the hand, the arm ripped off, oil spewing out of it. She drone screamed, a pure genuine scream.

The other drone started advancing slowly but surely toward her, performing the same coding stuff with a butcher knife. They copied it, so there were three.

They shot toward the girl, spinning and spinning as the drones long hair was kicked up.

All she could see before her death was her reflection in the grimy blade.

Little bugs skittered across the filthy floor, fighting over even the littlest bits of oil under red, red light.

Just as one pushed another away from a puddle, the drone walked in and ended up stepping on it.
