Sounds.

Sounds, all over, all interrupting the perfect silence that had come before.

The glow from the old desktop which let out soothing sounds of the ocean through its speakers, the headache-inducing shine of the fluorescent lights, allowing a soft buzz to flow around the cubicles.

The worst place ever.

Posters and pictures lining the walls, not doing anything to help with how bland everything was. Corkboards, motivational posters, and others were hastily plastered on the grey wallpaper.

Flick.

The first row of lights turned off, causing an uncomfortable black to spread throughout the workplace.

Flick.

Flick.

The ink seeped its way throughout every corner, every crevice.

Flick.

Flick.

Flick.

Sight was a thing of the past.

A drone sat under a curved desk, the same one with the old desktop. She breathed heavy and quick, frightened by any indication of movement or the fact there was anyone——anything——else there with her.

She crawled her way out from under the desk, peering around the cubicle wall, watching the loading screen on her friends face go round and round and round...

She looked left and right, strokes accompanying her hollow, horrified blue eyes.

                     Can you set me free...

Breathing heavier, faster, she crawled out of the cubicle, low to the ground, as quiet and as fast as she could possibly could.

What she didn't know, was that a creature of sorts was watching her every move, growling low in its throat and dragging its claws against the now hard, carpeted floor.

                 Can you take my soul away...

A caw emanated from the left of 029 just as she grabbed onto her friends leg, causing her to gasp slightly and look over.

                         Casting me in cold,

She quickly had to look away, as bright blue flashes caused light to flood those parts of the room.

                           Bury me at home,

Her breathing quickened, she drug her friend back toward the cubicle with an audible sound as digital sweat dripped down her forehead. She had to let go and scurry back into hiding as creatures came running near her, searching for her.

                       In a twisted melody...

When the creatures passed, 029 reached her hand out slowly and hesitantly, trembling more and more with every heartbeat. She just had to move, quickly, move move move...

Creatures came running, fast, and made quick work of her friend, tearing him apart and slurping up his insides like childs play. She was left staring, gawking as her loved one was torn apart.

She quickly retired back into the cubicle, pressing her itty bitty back onto the wall separating her and the creatures, breathing hard, breathing fast, holding a hand up to her mouth so she could muffle some of the noise. Tears welled up in her digital eyes.

She stared as her looming fate rose above the wall in front of her.

Not only her fate, but a creature.

Blue light was cast down on her as she tried her best to crawl away quick, but she was done for when she looked back for a split second,

With one camera flash, she was bootlooped.

Her screams were muffled and glitched out as her frozen body thudded down to the ground, still holding up a hand in a last ditch effort to protect herself.

029 was delt with just as quickly as her friend, oil spewing out of the cubicle she was in, the raptors now well-fed.

The little red light of the security camera blinked and blinked, not providing anything to brighten up the atmosphere.

This night has just begun.
