Gryffindor and Slytherin third-years settled into their desks, preparing for their Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Textbooks and quills were neatly arranged in front of them as they eagerly awaited Professor Lupin, who had just emerged from his office at the back of the classroom.

Toni's face lit up at the sight of him. He had been her favorite teacher during the summer, kind, generous, and incredibly knowledgeable. His training sessions were always the most enjoyable, alongside Thicket's. Even though Lupin's time at Hogwarts was cut short, knowing he would be their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher brought her a sense of relief and excitement. Sitting in his class now, she was filled with anticipation.

"Good afternoon and welcome to your first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of the term," Lupin greeted with a warm smile. "Today, I have something special in store for all of you. It's going to be a practical lesson, so you won't need your books and quills."

The students exchanged glances, quickly packing their belongings and giving their full attention to Lupin.

"But before we begin, I would like to introduce you to the assistant teacher I have arranged for our classes," Lupin announced, creating a buzz of curiosity among the students. Most had assumed it would be Snape, as he had always shown interest in the position and some Gryffindors suspected that he had manipulated his way into it with Dumbledore's help. "I spoke to Dumbledore, and he agreed to have this remarkable and well-known wizard join us for the year. Unfortunately, it seems he's running a bit late. I expect him to be here shortly."

Just as Lupin was about to finish his announcement, the classroom door swung open, and all eyes turned towards the newcomer.

"Ah! Perfect timing," Lupin chuckled. "Everyone, meet Wolfe Rothley."

Silent excitement fluttered through the entire classroom. Over the past two years, everyone had been captivated by Wolfe's work and achievements. News of his remarkable skills had spread like wildfire. He had successfully closed forty-three cases against heinous dark wizards in four different countries. He had apprehended one of America's most notorious wizard murderers and had reportedly, though not confirmed, captured a vampire along with dragons and werewolves.

However, while the other students marveled at Wolfe's presence, Toni sat in shock and displeasure. She felt anger boiling within her. It had been over a year since she last heard from him—no letters, no gifts for Christmas or her birthday, which may sound petty, but it was unlike Wolfe to break that tradition. Her skin grew hot with rage, but she composed herself as best she could, averting her eyes from him as the others continued to gaze upon him.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione exchanged quick glances, Harry's attention soon drawn to Toni. He saw the pent-up rage on her face, an expression he had never witnessed before. He couldn't comprehend it, but it was undeniable. Both Theodore and Draco also noticed her, along with Hermione and Ron, their gazes drawn back to Toni. Taking a deep breath, she met their stares and turned her attention back to her uncle as he made his way down the aisle.

Wolfe maintained his distinct style, just as Toni remembered. Shaded glasses rested on his chiseled nose, accentuating his strong jawline. His silver hair was neatly styled, slicked back. His worn black trench coat hinted at its many years of use. Underneath, he wore a black dress shirt, which was unbuttoned at the top, complemented by an intricately designed black vest adorned with a velvet vine pattern. Slick black pants and polished black dress shoes completed his ensemble, the candlelight reflecting off the shiny leather. With his hands casually resting in his pockets, he wore his usual sly grin.

When Wolfe arrived before Lupin, the two exchanged a warm smile and a brief embrace before refocusing on the students.

"Mr. Rothley here is one of the most remarkable wizards of our time. He and I are old friends from Hogwarts," Lupin shared, gratitude evident on his face. "Now, I am aware of the fame Wolfe has gained over the past two years for his works, but more importantly, I see the value in his wisdom regarding the famous Violet Summers."
