The meal was delicious. Assorted plates of vegetables and buttered rolls, a glistening ham at the centre of the feast, all of it felt somewhat similar to the Tribe lands. The way people passed plates around, encouraging others to try the different dishes, and the overall lack of oppressive silence made it a very enjoyable meal. But he didn't stay long after eating, only taking a walk around the small local lake before returning to Kita and heading to the next village for the afternoon.
He was glad that his journey revealed that although his father was a neglectful king, his people were never truly without. They had several meals a day, a constant supply of fresh water too, but more could be done to protect their homes and increase the outcomes of their hard work. He wanted to create more sustainable solutions in the agricultural sector of his kingdom, and to increase quality of life in the more peripheral villages.
As promised he returned at sunset, only indulging in a light supper of teacakes with his siblings due to the feast he had eaten that day. He spoke of what he learned, both Natsuo and Fuyumi inputting their own thoughts and ideas too, and by the time their candles were low, their dim lights flickering away, Shoto bid them goodnight and returned to his quarters for the evening...
Shoto was pulled from his sleep by a gentle knocking on his window, the one connected to the small veranda climbing with ivy. The sky was a velvet blue, the moon shining at her peak in the sky, and the castle was quiet. His brow scrunched as he rolled over in bed, eyes opening only slightly to try and find the source of the noise. It could be a stray vine rattling on the window, or maybe the latch had come loose on the lattice, but as his vision cleared, sleep at bay for now, he saw a silhouette against the moon's light.
"Katsuki?" he asked, his voice barely reaching his own ears from both dreariness and disbelief. He yawned before pushing himself up, sliding on his slippers before heading over and opening the window. And there before him, with the same brilliant red eyes, toned arms, and ever-present smirk, was the man whom he carried with a slight ache in his chest these past few days.
"Evening, princess." Katsuki greeted, even bowing exaggeratedly before coming down from the railing and towards him, arms barely open before Shoto rushed into them. "Miss me?" he teased, though he held Shoto just as tight, strong arms pulling him close and head resting atop his shoulder.
"Dreadfully." He confessed, holding Katsuki tighter and placing a small kiss against his neck. He took a small step back, making sure Katsuki was there and not some fragment of his imagination, hand trailing up on arm before cupping his cheek, barely speaking a word more before Katsuki leaned in and kissed him as if those days spent apart created such unbearable longing.
Shoto returned the kiss as best he could, his body still languid as it woke up from its rest. His cool hand wound into Katsuki's hair, running his fingers through the soft strands that looked even softer in the moonlight, his warm hand resting on the man's waist, small but so strong.
"Why are you here?" He asked through panting breaths, words trailing into a slow hum as Katsuki held him closer, kissing along his jaw and down his neck, as if he had memorised every spot that made him weak. "How did you..."
"I have my ways." Was all Katsuki gave him, gently biting and gnawing near his collarbone before placing a kiss over the blooming red mark that was beginning to form there. "Wanted to see you, darlin'." His hands trailed down Shoto's back, all the way down to his thighs until, without notice, he picked Shoto up and pushed him against the window, pressing them together and kissing him harder until their breaths mingled in the cool night air.
"Katsuki, Katsuki..." He chanted quietly, broken by soft moans whenever the man tightened his grip on his thighs, found a new spot to ravish with his lips on his neck, how close they were pressed together. Warmth quickly spread through him until he pulled Katsuki's head back by his hair to kiss him, greedily taking in the groan that passed through his lips. "Katsuki, I want you."
