It's a wicked system, constructed by the ones calling themselves Watchers. Power hungry beings that once was human but through the system have drained enough power to live for thousands of years and their bodies have twisted to be able to hold that much power.

Everyone is in High School.

Grian woke up on the day of his seventeenth birthday, today he would get a new eyecolor, one that would determine his powers. The parrot had been looking forward to this day with exitement, but not without dread as this would determine how others would view him. He slowly got out of bed. It felt as if it took an hour to move his legs to the side of the bed and for his feet to touch the floor it took a week. It had been years before he finally reached his bathroom mirror and raised his head, his eyes still closed with anticipation. It took a century before he had gathered up the courage to open them and another one before he locked eyes with himself. His shoulders slumped as the blue eyes shone back at him, he had hoped to for once not be the weakest - his size was already against him, 17 and he had yet to reach his growth spurth. His disappointment made his eyes avert away from the mirror, the teenager failing to notice the purple tint appearing in his eyes as they reflected the light.

Grians mood changed slightly as he got ready for school, his signature red jumper sliding over his head, wings whose color battled the rainbow, folding out through the homemade cuts in the back.

He was down in the living room, when he heard an excited scream comng from his sisters room, not two seconds she came down and flung her arms around his neck.
"I GOT ORANGE" Pearl did a little victory dance before her glance shifted to her brother, who gave her a somber smile.
"I'm so happy for you! I got blue"

She studied his eyes, her lips forming a thin line as her expression changed to worry. "No, you didn't"
"What?" He asks her and Pearl leaves, returning with a mirror, shoving it to him. "Your eyes are purple"
As the boy studies his own eyes, he realizes that she's right, the hue he had mistaken for blue earlier was now an unmistakingly violet. "What does that mean? Nobody have ever gotten purple before" worry laced his voice as he paced around the room. Pearl took his hands, locking her eyes to his. "I don't know, but we will figure it out Griba" she says, the other chuckling lightky at the nickname. "I'll tell the group you're sick today, and I'll buy you some blue contacts - try and figure it out in the meantime" she finishes as she grabs her bag and storms out of the room, leaving behind a confused parrot alone with his thoughts.

Grian groaned in frustation as his attempts to figure out which power he held once again failed, the boy slowly growing more and more furious, he stomped in the ground, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw purple embers fly from his fingertips. Stunned, he paused his actions and stared at his hand. "What. Was. That?" He asked himself before extending his hand, palm facing towards the ceiling. He focused all his energy on alighting his palm with the same embers he had just seen, a small hope sparkling in him as he felt heat rush through his body, to his palm, then a small purple flame ignited, burning for only a few seconds before extinguishing itself. It was small, but it was all the blonde needed, fire powers. His face lit up with a smile even though he was exhausted from the small use of magic. He would need training.
