A/N:

I know the people that may interract in this fanfic, didn't really interact in season 6, but to be honest, I don't really care for what's canon ,and isn't that also the point of fanfiction, lol.

I hope you enjoy the story anyway! :D

He squinted his eyes as the bright sunlight shone on him, the green grass of a brand new server underneath his feet.
"GRIAN!" A voice yelled beside him yelled and a tall man in a black suit threw his arms around him. "Mumbo! It's good to see you again!" the avian chimed and hugged his friend back. "You too G, welcome to Hermitcraft season 6"
"Thank you! I already love it here!"
Someone behind the duo scoffs. "Ugh, is this the new player? A parrot!? Yet another weak avian" Mumbo and Grian turn around and are met with a goat-creeper hybrid, at least a head taller than the small avian and a few centimeters taller than Mumbo. "Doc, be nice!" Mumbo scowled and Doc rolled his eyes and walked away.
"Don't mind him Grian! He's just in a bad mood, he'll probably apologize soon-" The redstoner put a hand on his friends shoulder, "-besides, you're not a parrot, you're a phoenix! And that's like 100 times cooler!" Mumbo beamed and Grian smiled. "I know, but please don't tell anyone I'm a phoenix, I don't want anyone being scared of me"
"Of course G" The ravenette ruffled the new hermit's blonde hair with a smile, "We should get going and build some starter bases"
"You're right, see you around Mumbo!"

Mumbo was right: Doc came a few days after his first apperance to apologize.
"Grian, I'm sorry. I didn't want to upset you, it's just I've known a few avian-hybrids in my past and they were all terrified of me, I let my own fear get the better of me and took it out on you, I'm sorr-" The creeper explained but Grian cut him off. "No need to apologize, It's fine" the blonde said with his back turned to creeper, sorting through his chests to find some gravel. A smirk grew on his lips and he turned to face the taller hermit, looking him in the eyes and taking a step closer, "besides, you're not even scary" Doc returned his smirk and took a step closer as well, the two staring in each other with daggers in their eyes. The creeper's sinister smirk fades to a smile, "See you around Grian" he says while searching for an exit out of the bottle.

Over the course of a few months, Grian made a lot of progress to his futuristic base in the ocean - it looked like a teared cake as some of his new friends said. He talked with a lot of new people, he even made a group called The Architects, invented a few minigames and of course caused a lot of chaos among the hermits.

"So Grian, how is Hermitcraft going?" Mumbo asked with a smile after having caught Grian in the middle of a prank, the avian returned the smile, "it's great! I like being seen as weak, it makes people talk to me without caution, besides I am fully in control of my firepowers!"
"I know you are, but how? Phoenixes are creatures of pure and raw magic, you aren't supposed to ever become in control of such power"
"How do you know that?" Grian asked and Mumbo paused, averting his eyes. "You disappeared Grian, I researched everything there is to know about Phoenixes to try and find you" The redstoners voice broke at the reminder of the years he faced without Grian, the years that still makes the phoenix clamp up whenever Mumbo had tried to pry.
"I'm sorry" The blonde said and Mumbo waved it off.
"Grian, you don't need to apologize, I'm sure what happened to you must have been horrible, but when you ever feel comfortable taking about it, I'll be here for you"
Grian smiled sadly, "I know, thanks Mumbo"
"Are all firepowers the same?"
"No, while fire is generally seen as the most difficult power to control, and the most destructive, it's easier for the other hybrids as they are only able to control the fire, us phoenixes, we aren't just able to control the fire, we are fire, our body and wings are made of fire-" The phoenix explained but left the next part unsaid, "-I just got Watcher-blood in me now, that's how I am in control, that's why I'm not on fire." The silence lasted for a little longer before the blonde piped up again, "why do you ask?"
"Oh it's just Tango is a Blaze-hybrid and they should be able to control fire, but I've never seen him do anything with fire, ever"
"Huh, I didn't even know he was a Blaze" The smaller replied, "not ever using your abilities could be dangerous, his pent up fire could spiral out of control one day, until all his energy is used and he falls into a coma, or worse" He thought to himself, better be on the lookout for any smoke.

Grian was filling in his chest monster on the third layer of the base when a frantic message in the chat caught his attention.
[ImpulseSV]: X! TANGOS POWERS ARE OUT OF CONTROL IN THE FORREST IN THE FANTASY DISTRICT!
[ImpulseSV]: EVERY ONE ELSE STAY AWAY! THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS!

Grian spent two seconds reading the messages and another two unfurling his wings and taking a leap out of the window, letting the wind carry him on his fire-red wings. In the middle of the fight his communicator pinged again, this time it was a private message from the one and only Mumbo Jumbolio.
[MumboJumbo]: grian do you think you can help?
[Grian]: yeah, Im on my way
[MumboJumbo]: alr, good luck

As he neared the forrest, Grian saw the smoke before the fire, dark grey clouding the otherwise blue sky. The phoenix landed beside the imp, making him jump. "Jesus Grian! You should've stayed away! This could be dangerous"
"I wanted to help, where is he?" The 'parrot' asked and Impulse pointed into to fire, "In the middle of the fire"
A tree near them fell, sending embers towards them, Grian felt the familiar sense of the heat and the fire, Impulse flinched back, screeching. "Stay here Impulse"
"What? Don't tell me your planning on walking into the fire!"
"I'll be fine, don't worry, keep everyone else away"
Before Impulse can object, the blonde walks into the blazing inferno, the imp screaming objections behind him, but too scared of the heat to follow him into the flames.

The sound of quiet sobs was picked up by Grians ears and the noise led him to the blaze-hybrid, he was kneeling on the ground, with tears of fire streaming down his cheeks with rapid breaths escaping him. He crouched down to comfort him, placing his hands on the others' shoulders. "G-Grian! You shouldn't be here!" Tango gasps and Grian tightens the grab on his shoulders to ground him. "It's fine, everything is going to be fine"
"NO! This fire is spreading quicker than I can gain control! It's going to burn down the whole fantasy district!" Tango cries and Grian sighs. "Let go of the control Tango"
"What? Then the fire will for sure burn this whole area to the ground!"
"Just do it" Grian insisted and the Blaze let out another panicked breath. "I don't know how!"
"Breathe with me, calm, long breaths just like that"

While breathing together, Grian stood up and the Netherborne looked up at him, "G, what are you doing?" he asked with worry in his tone, while the phoenix closed his eyes, feeling the fire, the heat of the flames, the supposedly uncontrollable inferno, he reached out with all his power, feeling himself take control of the flames, he sucks the blazing power to himself, extinguishing the fire, but making his body run on pure heat for a moment, his eyes glowed orange and his red wings spread to their full glory, catching on fire. Tango looked up to admire the view of the avian, it was unlike anything he had seen before, the blonde looked like an Angel on doomsday.
"W-what are you?" He asked and Grian smirked in response, then he gave him a hand to help him up, "You gotta start practising your powers more, otherwise you'll lose control again"
"Oh, but-"
"No buts, I'll help you" Grian assured and the duo starts walking out of the forrest of charred trees. They reach the end and are met with two people, worry painted on their faces. When the duo came into sight, relief washed over the imp who ran into the arms of his best friend. "Oh my god! I'm so happy you two are okay! How did you put out the fire Tango!?"
"I didn't-" The blaze cheeks turned red in embarrassment, embarrassment over not being able to control his own power, "-Grian did"
"Oh, "Since when could parrots control fire?" Impulse asked, and the three hermits turned to look at the 'parrot', who shrugged and decided to tell them the truth; they would figure it out anyway sooner than later.
"Never. I'm not a parrot, I'm a phoenix"
