"Hey, is this Isla?"
"Yes, who am I speaking to?"
"This is Ayla. Ayla Garcia, do you have time to grab a coffee with me?"
"Hey Ayla, yeah sure. Meet me in front of the company"
"I will be there in five"
"Perfect. See you soon"
"See you soon Isla"
In five? She must be somewhere around... and I definitely know what she wants to talk about. Her brother, who actually has disappeared ever since we had that talk. I mean it's what he does right? One problem and it chases him away, I bet he is back in Spain. It's not like I'm someone who's worth fighting for anyway, I was expecting him to run away from me because well... who would want to date a girl as fucked up as me right? All I bring is trouble and I have a lot of issues to deal with, although this was his fault, I wouldn't fight for someone like me either. None would.
"Hey Isla, thank you for meeting up with me" Ayla greets me. The way that she looks exactly like him doesn't help with my case: moving on.
"Hi! Yeah sure. Let's go grab some coffee"
"I think you might know the reason I called this girls date. I wish the circumstances were different where we got to bond again but maybe we can fix that for the near future" We used to be so close, me and this girl. We were best friends, like it was me, her and Minne all the time in high school, even the times I would face issues with Abel in our relationships, she was there to stand by my side and protect me at all costs. Expect for the time we actually broke things off but their parents were also divorcing so I can't really blame her for ditching.
"Yeah, I think I have an idea where this conversation would go but yes I would love for us to be the way we used to be, the three of us again, no matter the circumstances"
"Abel has taken over the company, full time. Where I basically had to step back, I also needed this time to step back for myself because it has been years that Abel wasn't focused on the company because of his job"
"His secretive job" I add.
"Which he quit by the way"
"What?" He quit the FBI? That's impossible, it was his dream. He never wanted to be a CEO he always wanted to solve crimes.
"Believe it or not, he did it for you. Because of everything that has happend. He is miserable Isla, I know that he might have disappeared on you because he has a lot going on with the company now that he has taken over but most of the time he's just distracted. He is back to his grumpy self, who's just angry at everyone which had changed when he was with you, he was in a cheerful mood and treated all of us differently, good different"
"I'm so sorry to hear that Ayla but I don't think that this is up to me or my fault like any of this. No matter how much I would like for it to be my fault because I would try to make things right no matter my responsibilities or circumstances in life which you may know are not doing good. I am also miserable because it's not easy to be betrayed by the one person you thought that had your back on one of the lowest times in your life"
