growing up in LA, november always saw herself as different.

she was surrounded by white girls with straight hair, and light eyes. she always felt like the odd one out whenever she hung out with her friends.

being black and mexican was hard at times for november. she loved who she was, but at the same time, she hated it. why couldn't she have straight hair like her friends?

no matter what she did, she always felt like she was nothing compared to everyone else. her mother always told her her hair was beautiful, and that being half mexican half black was amazing, but she just didn't see it that way.

there were times where she would go home crying because of the horrible things people said about her natural hair, or her "big lips". it wasn't her fault she was like this.

it wasn't until she turned 16 where she truly began to love herself. she surrounded herself with positive people, people who accepted her for who she was. after 7 years, she learned to love herself and her body.

the day she graduated high school was the happiest day of her life. she was finally going to college, after thinking she wouldn't make it. she was so happy.

it wasn't until the end of the first month at college that november felt like she was different once again, that is, until she met niall.
