Savannah's pov
Logan looks nervous about something, his finger tapping repeatedly on the steering wheel as he drives the both of us to the track. "You know it's only practice today, right?" I joke, concluding that his nerves are a result of the weekend to come.
He runs a hand through his hair. "Oscar is going to be there too." His words cause me to become confused. "Yeah? So?" I ask, trying to clear my confusion.
He blinks, glancing over at me. "So you're fine with that?" He asks, sounding very shocked at my response. "He has a girlfriend now, I'm sure he's going to avoid me as much as I'll be avoiding him."
His new girlfriend is the complete opposite of me, her brown hair and brown eyes most notably. From what I understand, they've been dating since January. A respectable five months after we broke up, that is if they began dating in January and not before then.
He glances over at me again as I shrug my shoulders. "Okay." He says it suggestively, as if he doesn't believe me. "Why'd you say it like that? Don't say it like that." I quickly spit the words out, wanting the answer from him sooner rather than later.
He shakes his head, a smile on his face that hides a laugh. "Nothing! You were just kinda crushed when you two broke up." The second part is spoken quietly, definitely in the hopes I wouldn't hear.
My face is visibly offended. "I was not crushed!" I shout defensively, even though I know I was definitely crushed. "Seriously?" His tone shows he thinks otherwise. "'Cmon cmon don't leave me like this'" he mocks me, singing one of my songs that was written about Oscar.
I punch him in the shoulder, unable to verbally defend myself anymore. I groan out of annoyance, the sound filling the car. "Yeah fine I was a little upset." I throw my hands up in defeat, downplaying just how hard the breakup was for me.
Logan sighs from the drivers seat. "It's fine if you're still not over it. You guys were together for two years, that couldn't have been easy." He sends me an apologetic look.
I pick at my nails to avoid replying to him. I know he's right and I really don't want him to be. Part of me still wishes I had fought him on it or even begged him to stay, but I didn't. I was too stubborn to allow it and I curse myself everyday for it.
"Are you ready?" Logan questions, pulling me from my own mind. I hadn't even notice we'd already parked. I look to him with wide eyes, humming out a yes with a nod.
The clicks of cameras don't go unnoticed as we walk into the paddock together. I've been to a few of his junior races, and it's the same thing every time. I expected nothing different, except maybe more dramatic headlines this time.
I notice Logan pick up his pace a little as we pass McLaren's hospitality, and I almost roll my eyes. I get he's trying to avoid Oscar for me, but it's not really needed.
"You don't need to avoid him." I comment gently, not aiming to start an argument only wanting him to know I'm genuinely fine.
He looks at me fully, his expression apologetic once again. I'm not sure if it's because of what I said, or if it's because he feels bad for me. I ignore it either way.
He leads me all the way to his drivers room, a small space that's just his own. "You can stay in here if you don't feel like socializing while I'm on the track." I nod, mentally noting his offer. Social atmospheres have never been my strong suit.
"I'm gonna need you to get out right now though. I need to change." He laughs, the change of clothes in hand as he waits for me to leave.
I close the door behind me and stand next to the door awkwardly. Alex walks by, glancing at me to give me a smile. He does a double take, stopping and turning back to me.
"You're Savannah aren't you?" He asks while pointing at me. The smile still on his face and I smile back at him. "Yeah, you can just call me Sav, though. You're Alex. It's good to meet you."
I've followed formula one for awhile, since Logan's carting days when he expressed how passionate he was about it, how he one day wanted to race in the series. Alex has become one of my favorite drivers since his rookie season, so it's ironic he's not Logan's teammate.
"Yeah, it's good to meet you too. Logan talks about you quite a bit. Your music is great, my girlfriend loves it, plays it all the time." His face brightens when he talks about his girlfriend. For a moment I'm envious of it.
"Thank you! You're an amazing driver, by the way." He tilts his head. "You follow the sport?" His tone isn't accusing, if anything it's more thrilled and excited. I nod enthusiastically. "Yeah, have been since I was little."
The door clicks open from behind me, and a suited up Logan exits the room. "Oh, Alex this is-" He doesn't get a chance to finish his sentence, because I cut his words off with my own.
"We're already over the formalities." I inform him, he responds with an offended look. "Well my bad." Dramatically, he holds his hands up in defense.
I scoff a laugh, rolling my eyes at his actions. "I should probably get ready now, but my girlfriend is back in the garage." He gestures towards the direction of the garage. "I can introduce you, that way you've got someone to talk to while we're out on the track." He looks to Logan, then back at me.
His suggestion causes a brighter smile to appear across my lips. "Yeah that would be great, I was actually just going to hide out in there but that's ten times better." I joke, motioning towards the door of Logan's driver room. The three of us laugh together at my words.

"So are you and Logan..." Lily trails off, not finishing her sentence but I know what she's asking anyway.
Both Logan and Alex are currently doing laps around the track, making the most of the second free practice session.
I shake my head repeatedly, a small laugh bubbling over. "No. We're only friends, have been since we were little." I smile as she nods understandingly.
The question used to bother me but it doesn't really anymore. I think I've gotten used to it.
"That's nice of you to come all this way then." I shake my head again, waving her comment off. "I actually have always enjoyed the sport, so if anything it's like free tickets." I joke with a shrug, the both of us laughing at the comment.
"I had like zero clue about it until I met Alex." We laugh again at how opposite we are as Alex is brought back into the garage, free practice now over.
Lily has a small smile on her face as she studies each of his moves, pupils dilating when he takes off his helmet and balaclava to smile at her. Her small smile stretches from ear to ear at that.
Once he's finished putting everything down he gives her a quick kiss. There distance remains close even after their lips have disconnected.
I'm going to sleep on a highway tonight.
Realizing I probably look like a stalker, I advert my eyes to where Logan is now taking off the extra layers around his head.
He smiles at me, eyebrows lifted as high as he can manage and it makes him look a little strange. One of my eyebrows lifts questioningly.
"Where do you want to go to eat?" Is the first thing he says to me. I blink a couple times, trying to process the unexpected question. "Uh-" I shrug. "Doesn't really matter to me."
"Good because I've already made a reservation." He smiles a big, goofy smile. I pinch the bridge of my nose, not understanding his thought process in the slightest. "So, why ask?" He shrugs. "Maybe you had somewhere else in mind."
"You are so strange." I breathe out a laugh, and he smiles despite the insult I just threw at him.
