Oscar's povElaine and I spent the first week of December in Monaco with a few of the other drivers.
I don't know who's idea it was, but someone had mentioned going out together before we all go our separate ways for the rest of break. The idea turned into a reality.
"Which one is hotter?" Elaine asks, holding up two different dresses. One a bright red. One dark blue. "They both look good on you." I answer honestly with a shrug. She drops her hands in disbelief. "I'm telling you to choose one, I need a second opinion." She complains, eyeing both dresses once more before turning her attention back to me.
I shrug again. "I like the red one better." I say, hoping the answer satisfies her. In all honesty, I could barely even tell the difference.
She looks between the dresses again. "I'll go with the blue." She says, skipping off toward the bathroom to change. Why even ask?
Savannah used to do the same thing. Ask me my opinion on something, only to completely ignore it and go with whichever option she liked better. I didn't understand it with her, and I certainly don't understand it with Elaine either.
She changes quickly, coming back out with the small fitted blue dress on. "I'm ready now." She confirms as she picks her purse up from the desk. I nod, leading her out the door, all the way to the car.
I open her door for her before rounding the car to my side, entwining our hands once I've situated myself comfortably in the seat. She offers me a small smile before we set off toward the club.
Upon entering, I've noticed a few familiar faces already. Lando, Savannah, Max, Charles, and Pierre all stand in a circle conversing with each other, a drink in each of their hands. Besides Savannah, who doesn't have a drink, but she stands next to Lando who holds two.
When the two of us join the group, Elaine instantly jumps into conversation with Savannah. Odd. I thought Elaine didn't like Savannah? I drop the thought, figuring I had interpreted her words incorrectly.
"I'm gonna get us some drinks." I kneel down so that Elaine can hear me clearly. She turns to me with a smile and nods. My hand slips from around her waist as I walk away towards the bar.
I get her usual drink for her, and a non alcoholic drink for me. Designated driver.
When I slip back to her side with both drinks, she takes hers gratefully before turning back to her conversation with Savannah, who's shoulders are now decorated with Lando's arm around them.

It's later into the night and everyone's a few more drinks in. Everyone who isn't driving, that is.
Savannah gasps suddenly, taking her drink from Lando's hand and downing the rest of it in one go. She undoes her boyfriend from around her, leading him to a more spacious part of the floor. "Come on I wanna dance with you!" Her words are slurred a little. Lando gives in with a smile.
I recognize the song as one of Savannah's favorites, one she would play in the car every time we went somewhere. "I'm going to the restroom, I'll be right back." I tell Elaine, a nod from her confirming she had heard my words, even though her eyes are watching Lando and Savannah as they move in sync.
I navigate through the packed crowds until I find the bathrooms. A dimly lit little hallway where both restrooms are tucked away almost completely out of sight.
The line is stupid long, causing it to be around ten minutes before I actually get back out into the main area. I push through people to find out little group again, but Elaine is missing. Lando and Savannah are still dancing together, but Elaine hasn't joined them. She's not by the bar either.
