Sav's povI set the phone up on one of the counters in the garage, and Oscar jumps out of frame of the camera when he sees himself on the screen.
"You ready?" I turn back to ask him. He gives me a double thumbs up and a little nod.
I start the video.
"It's race day and here's what I'm wearing!" I introduce, leaning against the counter. "This necklace is from Tiffany." It's the necklace Lando got me. I wear it nearly every day. Oscar knows and doesn't care.
"This other necklace is from... I actually don't know." I laugh, looking back at Oscar who tries to mouth the answer to me, but I can't read lips very well. It's a necklace he got me for my birthday with his number on it.
"Sorry 'bout that one. Anyway this bracelet is... I think Cartier?" I glance back at Oscar for him to confirm, which he does so with a nod. "Yes, Cartier." I laugh. It's another gift he gave me for my birthday from their D'amour line.
"And the watch is from RM." I take a few steps back to get the dress in view. It's a flowy dress, the thin material of it only going a little lower than mid-thigh. "This dress is from Nordstrom. And these shoes are from Anthropologie." I lift my foot up in the usual outfit of the day way, showing off the platform sandals.
"And my accessory..." I trail off, linking my arm with Oscar's, lacing his fingers with mine, and pulling him into frame. "Is from Australia!" Oscars quiet laugh is breathy.
His hand holds tight onto mine when I do a small run up to the camera, even though I tried to let go of his hand.
I stop the video, putting my phone down momentarily to look up at him. "Thank you." It's a thanks for his participation, which shockingly didn't take that much convincing.
"Oh no, thank you. That's the best compliment I've ever gotten." He hold onto both of my hands.
I give him a questioning look. "Really? The best compliment you've ever gotten is someone telling you you're an accessory?" My disbelief comes though my tone.
He looks offended, shaking his head. "No. The best compliment I've ever gotten is you saying I'm your accessory." He knows what he's doing. And what he's doing to me. It's obvious in his voice. Low, and sultry.
I can feel the blush stepping up to my cheeks, making my skin warmer than the hot Mexico air does. I can't even respond, the only thing my brain knows how to do is laugh is short breathy bursts.
It's a little embarrassing how it's so easy for him to get me like this. I'd kill him if I didn't love him so much.
"They should lock you up." He says after a moment. I turn my head to the side, a display of confusion. "What for?" I ask, a slight smile on my face. I don't know where he's going with this, but I know it'll be something straight out of the cheesiest rom com you can think of.
But when he opens his mouth to answer, Kim calls his name out. "Oscar! Let's go, race time." He claps his hands loudly.
He's like an obedient little dog, quickly turning on his heels to follow Kim. He turns, now back pedaling. "Hey! I'll see you after! I love you!" He yells.
He twists around too soon for me to reply, and I think he actually face-palms himself. But I don't think I would've been able to reply if I was given the chance.
Those three little words at the end of his sentence shot straight to my heart, hitting it between the beats, and stopping it altogether.
I love you. He said. He said, I love you. I said nothing back.
