Sav's pov
I'm back in Miami this week, my main manager, Lila, wanted to have multiple meetings about tour for next year and she insisted they would be impossible to do over a call.
I walk into the office building, the cool air inside is a drastic contrast from the hot and humid weather outside. It's currently mid July and the humidity has caused my hair to frizz up slightly, something I absolutely hate about still living here.
I quickly make my way to the conference room, having already been late because I missed my first three alarms, somehow sleeping through all three.
I sit down at the only empty chair left, muttering a quick apology for being late. Truthfully I wasn't actually that late, only by a couple minutes or so but I still felt bad, afraid they'll think I don't care enough to respect their time.
My producer, each of my managers, and a few other familiar faces from the label fill the table. Each of them giving me a genuine smile as I join them.
"You're alright, but let's get started." My main manager, Lila, then motions to Emelia, my tour manager before she speaks again. "Emelia has already come up with a schedule, all we need you to do is look it over, and then we can discuss openers." I nod, grabbing the paper from Emelia when she slides them over to me.
I look it over briefly before I pull my phone from my pocket, an odd action to maybe anyone else but it's necessary for me to approve the schedule.
Lando sent me next years race calendar earlier, the both of us wanting to match up our schedules as much as possible. I look between the two, the dates going through mostly just the summer. Starting in early March and Ending the first week of August.
I realize there's not a single show of mine that will match with a race week of his, not even his home race which I absolutely have to be at. I shake my head promptly before looking up at each and every person in the room.
"Can we possibly make this match next years race calendar a little better?" I ask, not wanting to make anyone upset, or seem like a bitch. I pass both the phone and the paper back to Emelia when she gives me a questioning look.
"We can start that first week of May in Miami, then we can do Canada the week that he's there. Then I think we can match up the UK dates." I explain clearly, pointing to each date as I share them out.
Both Emelia and Lila look at each other skeptically for a moment, silent words being spoken between them and Lila goes to write something down on the little notebook she carries. She's always preferred writing over typing.
No one answers me for an unbearable amount of extended time. It caused me to get nervous, speaking up once again to rationalize my request. "It's only three dates. I just don't want to be away from Lando for so long, and this way I'll get to at least see him once a month." There's an unwanted plea in my voice, one I hadn't intended on being there.
"And what if you're no longer with him next summer? Then we've gone through so much trouble for nothing." A guy at the other end of the table speaks up, an attitude accompanying his words. I recognize his face from the label, but I can't put a name to it.
Despite his blatant attitude toward my simple request, I give him a smile. "I guess it's a good thing I don't plan on breaking up with him." I add a laugh to it, really trying to not come off rude.
"Well who knows with your dating history." His joke doesn't land, the table stays completely silent as he laughs at his own joke.
My smile falls completely, a lump forming in my throat and I try to swallow it down but it does no good. I felt my anger start to flare up, and with that would inevitably come tears.
