Sav's povHey, I'm in England for the week. Wanna do something tgth??
That was the text I sent Oscar two days ago, one he followed up with,
Definitely, how about some ice skating Wednesday??
I love ice skating, so I obviously agreed. Now he's on the way to Logan's to pick me up.
"Does this look good? Is it too much? Should I change the sweater?" I rattle the list of questions off to Logan as I turn in circles to evaluate myself in the mirror. "I don't know why you're so worried. It's not a date." His words make my spinning motions come to a halt.
I face him with wide eyes. "No, but does he think it's a date? Is it a date? Oh god." One of my hands goes to cover my forehead and the other clutches at my hip.
Logan pushes off the wall he was leaning against, standing right in front of me and placing his hands on my shoulders. "Well, did either of you say it was a date?" He asks, clearly holding back a laugh. "No."
"Then it isn't a date." He assures. A knock echoes from his front door and he gives me a knowing look. "I think that's for you." He laughs and my eyes grow wide, and some sort of shriek comes out of me.
I shuffle towards the door, taking a deep breath before opening the door. "Hey Oscar!" I shout, inviting him into the apartment. "I just have to get my shoes on and then we can go." I say, rather awkward.
I speed off back to the room, passing Logan on the way there. I give him some sort of look of nervousness.
I fumble with the shoes, struggling to put them on my feet. "You coming with us?" I hear Oscar ask Logan. I hadn't thought it previously, but now I'm really hoping he agrees.
He doesn't. "Oh, no. I have a lot to do today." Liar. He doesn't have a thing going on. In fact, he told me about twenty minutes ago he planned to just play video games while I'm gone.
"Took you long enough." Logan comments when I come out of the room. I mock him. "Ready to go?" Oscar asks me, ignoring the comments exchanged between me and Logan. I answer him with a nod, and he nods too.
In my peripheral vision, I see Oscar's arm rise, only high enough so that it's level with my lower back. He quickly drops it though, and I deduce the action to just a stretch.

"I don't know if you remember, but I'm not very good at this!" Oscar calls from behind me. He's clutching onto the wall and using it to get along the ice.
I silently laugh to him, effortlessly skating back to him in no time. "How do you do that?" His eyes are wide, and a low chuckle comes from him. I shrug, holding a hand out to him. "Here, I'll help you"
He looks down at my hand, eyebrows drawn together. "What? Do you not trust me?" I laugh. He silently grabs onto both of my hands.
Still near the wall, I begin skating backwards, taking him with me. I try not to laugh. He's standing totally upright and is stiff as a board.
"Bend your knees a little, and move your feet outwards." I instruct. He does the first part correctly. On the second part, he abruptly pushes both his feet out at the same time, making him unexpectedly stop.
The momentum I was still carrying threatened to pull him face forward onto the ice, but he yanks my hands towards him to prevent that. I crash right into him, and his hands grip onto my sides to stabilize the both of us.
"I guess my instructions were a little unclear." I laugh awkwardly, staring down at my hands that are placed both of his biceps, too embarrassed to look up at his face. I can feel the muscle beneath my hands.
His laugh matches mine. "No I... should've guessed that would happen." He's already looking in my eyes when I look up at him.
His face is noticeably redder than before, a red that the cold could not have caused, which tells me he's embarrassed too.
I take a step back, dropping my hands from his chest. His hands fall from my sides, flexing them, then shaking them as if he couldn't feel his own hands.
I decide to pretend like nothing happened. "Look at my feet when I skate." I tell him, leaving him on the wall while I slowly skate away, doing the same on the way back.
Without a word, Oscar pushes off the wall. He skates towards me, stumbling momentarily but catching himself. When he gets close enough, I start skating backwards again. I don't offer my hands this time.
He gets the hang of it, being able to keep up a decent pace that allows me to skate next to him. It's silent for a minute. I didn't know what to say, and I think he was in the same situation.
Finally, he says something. "So, what are you doing in England, anyway?" Oscar asks with curiosity and lifted brows.
There wasn't a real reason I was here, "I was bored, and Logan's here." I tell him simply. He doesn't say anything for a moment, and stares at me with a tilted head. "Makes sense for you." He says, nodding.
I laugh, and speed up ever so slightly. The change is barely noticeable. He catches up in no time, and I do it again. "Stop that." A smile is spread across his face. "Stop what?" I act clueless, speeding up yet again. "That!" He laughs, trying to keep up.
I keep up my act. "I honestly don't know what you're talking about." This time when Oscar tries to catch up with me, he falls. He grabs onto my arm, probably to avoid falling, but he only succeeds in pulling me to the ice with him.
I laugh, at myself, and also at his inability to keep up. Both had simultaneously caused this. "How about we do something else?" I suggest to spare him any more embarrassment. I could tell he wasn't having much fun, but I knew he would never be the one to ask to leave.
He looks relieved, and nods. He reaches a hand up to me so I can help get up from the ice.
