"C'mon boys, we've got a big day ahead of us!"

The two teens groaned as you woke them up from their perfect slumber, but were soon motivated to get out of bed by their grumbling stomachs.

Soon enough they made their way to where their breakfasts were waiting for them. Toast, eggs, bacon, pancakes, the works!

"Dude, do you really eat like this all the time?!"

Keigo shrugged,
"Usually not this much,"

He looked at you,
"Hey dad, what's this all for?"

You looked to your son with a smile,
"Well, Keigo, today we're all going to take a trip to Setoko peak!"

Touya seemed a bit surprised,
"Really? It's not because of what I told you, is it?"

"Oh no, it's totally because of what you said. Also because I need a good excuse to get out,"
You replied with an unwavering smile.

You then walked out of the room to grab something which gave Touya the opportunity to whisper to his friend,
"Your dad's so cool!"

Keigo rolled his eyes,
"Mhm,"

~•~

"And Little Keigo was always so gentle with animals, even if they were the ugly ones! When he was seven, he'd found this bird with a broken wing and cried until I helped it!"

An embarrassed Keigo bumped his elbow into your side,
"Dad, quit embarrassing me!"

The damage was already done as Touya gave his best friend a smug look.

"Oh I'm sorry Keigo, I just got caught up reminiscing,"

He sighed in response while he mentally thought of ways to insult his friend should the need arise.

"Isn't the fresh air just amazing, kids?"

The three of you were currently walking up the mountain trail with you walking in between the two teens.

"It sure is, uncle (f/n)!"

Keigo snorted before whispering,
"Suck up,"

He was promptly elbowed by his friend.

"Keigo, look! That rock looks just like the one that you took home as a pet when you were eight!"

Your son had no idea what you were talking about, but rolled his eyes anyways.

"It's a rock, dad. They all look the same,"

"That's not true! The one you kept was round and smooth, those ones over there are rectangular and porous!"

He groaned, but before he could say anything,
Touya spoke up.

"Do you know more about rocks, uncle (f/n)?"

"Matter of fact, I do! Did you know that-"

Keigo tuned out whatever you were saying when he realized that his friend was pretty much trying to steal his dad from him. Knowing what Touya's life was like, he wasn't too annoyed by it though. The only thing he was worried about was you telling Touya more embarrassing stories about his youth.

"Wow, you really know a lot, uncle (f/n)!"

"Thanks a lot, Touya! Okay boys, let's keep moving forward, there's something you're gonna wanna see up there,"

The teens were curious as to what could be up there, and followed along.

"Here we are, kids! Setoko peak!"

You looked around and found a tree with the bottom of its trunk singed.

"Touya is that where you-"

"Yeah, but I stopped it from spreading!"

You dropped the subject.

The boys looked around for the "surprise" you were talking about earlier. Sure it was pretty nice up there, but nothing was shocking.

"Uh, uncle (f/n)? Where's the surprise?"
Touya asked.

"Behind you, son,"
A new voice spoke out.

The three of you turned around to see the head of the Todoroki household.

Touya blinked in disbelief,
"Dad? What're you doing here?!"

The tall man gave you a glance before making eye contact with his son,
"Your friend's father informed me that it might be a good idea to come up here. I'm hoping he wasn't wrong,"

Touya ran up excitedly to his father,
"It's a great idea! Hold on, let me show you some of the cool stuff I've learned!"

While the Todoroki son and father were bonding, you took Keigo aside to give them some space, and the two of you sat on a large boulder watching them from afar.

"You really set that up for them, dad?"

You nodded,
"I had a bad feeling that if things festered it'd get a lot worse, so I set all of this up,"

Your voice switched to a more serious tone,
"I just can't imagine having a child who feels like you don't care for them... I couldn't let him keep thinking that,"

Keigo leaned his head on your shoulder,
"I can. But I don't have to feel like that anymore,"

You put an arm around your son to give him a hug.

"Even though Mr. Todoroki's super cool and rich, I still think you're the better dad,"

"Aww, Keigo, that means so much to me!"

You gave your son a kiss on the forehead and he sighed. One day he'd be too old to receive your affection. One day he'd too old to come to you when he needed a hug. One day he'd live in a world without you.

But that day wouldn't come for a long time, so for now he'd just enjoy the time he had.
