"Duuuuuude, you were supposed to be my lab partner for today! Now I'm stuck with some guy who I'm pretty sure eats his own boogers!"

Your son sneezed, making sure not to get any snot on his phone,
"Sorry Touya, I wanted to come to school, but my dad wouldn't let me,"

"Yeah yeah, just get well soon, alright? And tell your dad I said hi!"

Keigo hung up on his friend and set his phone aside.

"Touya says hi,"

You smiled,
"I heard,"

A nice damp towel was placed on his forehead, providing some much needed cooling.

"I'll get some soup ready for you, don't look at your phone too much, alright?"

He rolled his eyes as you left his room,
"I won't, dad,"

Keigo hadn't been sick for a very long time, mainly because you always made him take extra safety precautions. But he made the mistake of forgetting his umbrella on a rainy day and was now paying the price.

A standing tray was placed over his legs with a bowl of soup, and you sat down on the chair next to him.

"Oh I remember when you got sick for the first time, you were so adorable back then!"

You pinched his cheek making him groan,
"Daaaad I'm not a baby anymore!"

"But you used to be! I remember..."

//FLASHBACK TIME//

"I don't wanna die! I wanna stay here with you!"
Keigo sniffled while you looked at the thermometer in your hand.

"Keigo, you're not gonna die, you've just got a cold!"

He looked at you confused,
"A cold? I don't feel cold!"

"It's just called that, silly. After a day or two, you'll be fine, I promise,"

He looked at you with his big watery eyes,
"Really?"

"Really. Now sit tight, I'll be back with your medicine,"

Keigo had never gotten sick like this before, mainly because there weren't really opportunities to in his old life. But this new experience was very scary for him.

"Okay Keigo, it might taste a bit weird, but soon you'll start feeling better,"

You poured the purple liquid into a small cup, then holding it to the little boy's mouth. He drank the medicine, and after swallowing he stuck his tongue out with a disgusted face.

"It's yucky..."

You chuckled,
"Yeah it is,"

"Can I have a hug?"

You smiled sadly,
"I'm sorry Keigo, but I can't hug or kiss you or else I'd get sick too,"

He frowned before more tears started spilling out his eyes. Being sick was the worst! How was he supposed to go on through life without your hugs and kisses? Then a horrible thought occurred. What if he never got better. What if he'd never be able to be hugged by you again!?
