"Seriously

"Seriously. Don't worry about pushing it back a day or two. It isn't like there's a rush on the order, and I know you've been dealing with other things lately." Jimin attempted to reassure me for what felt like the hundredth time.

"I know, but it'll be a weekend. Are you absolutely sure you wouldn't mind taking your day off to help me?"

I was referring to the order of blankets for the hospital. After the commotion yesterday, I didn't get time to help Kookie finish the blanket he'd been working on which also meant I didn't finish the last one. So, I was behind and while I knew Jimin was cool about not pressuring me to fulfill it, I also knew that if I didn't get his out then I'd be behind on the rest of my online orders. Hell, I already was.

"Y/N, I would use literally any excuse to spend time with you. Even if it's for work related reasons. I swear to you, I don't mind. Besides, since it's a weekend, I can drag someone along to help us load and unload."

"Okay. Then I'll plan for us to deliver it on Saturday."

"Sounds good. I've got a meeting in less than five minutes so I'll let you go."

"Okay, I'll see you tonight. Love you!"

"I love you too. Bye pretty girl."

I hung up, unable to keep the goofy grin off my face even when Kat came around the corner.

"Love you!" She parroted me, tossing me a smug grin. "You guys are so sweet I could gag."

"Now you know what I put up with all that time I spent third wheeling around you and Jackson." I retaliated, sticking my tongue out at her.

Before she could say anything back, my phone rang again. Picking it up, I was already laughing as I answered it.

"What happened to a meeting in less than five minutes?"

"Ms. L/N?" The voice on the other end of the line was most definitely not Jimin.

"Oh! I'm sorry. Yes, this is her."

"This is Officer Son. I know you asked for me to update you on any leads. I spoke with your father. Unfortunately, the night of the break in in your shop, his alibi is solid. He claimed to be at the office that night and was able to provide camera footage of him coming and going and times and a couple of people were able to corroborate that. I did ask how he came into possession of the photos you provided, and he said he paid off someone who attempted to blackmail him with them. I'm looking into his financial records to support that claim. But it'll take us a couple of days to get that information back."

I was disappointed, but not necessarily surprised that my father had thought of something to fall back on. It was his nature to make sure all his bases were covered. We'd need a bit of luck to bring him down. The problem was that I was never lucky when it came to him.
