High - 911 Lone Star

Yn's pov:

I walk in the firehouse. "Hi," I say with a huge smile. "Hey yn," Tk says.

It's a pretty slow morning. "Man, it's pretty quiet," Mateo is saying when the bell rings. "You just had to say it didn't you," Judd says. "You really just jinxed us?" Marjan asks. "You never say that. Now it's gonna be a crazy day," Paul says. We get in the truck and get to the fire. I feel the high starting to disappear from my body. I quickly pop a pill when nobody is watching, and I run to help. We get everyone out of the house and get the fire out. "Man, that was crazy," Marjan says. "I know," I say.

Tk's pov:

Mateo jinxed us. So now we're fighting a house fire. I feel something is off with yn. But I don't know what. We get the fire down. I notice a pill on the ground. It looks like.. oxy.. but who.. "Come on, Tk," Nancy says. I get in.

When we get back to the firehouse. I look around at everyone. There's nobody here that I know has a problem... my eyes land on yn.. she's new.. and she recently had her first loss on the job.. I walk over to them. "Ooh, that smells amazing," I say. I stretch to see yn's eyes. She's definitely high right now. "Um, dad, can I talk to you a second?" I ask. "Yeah, sure, let's go up to my office," he says. We go up there. "I.. I think yn is high, dad.." I say. "Why do you think that?" He asks. "She's way too happy having just had her first loss on the job. Also, I saw a pill on the ground back at the fire. It was oxy. And.. when I stretched, I saw her eyes. They were super dilated.. I don't want to embarrass her, but she needs help," I say, pacing. "Hey, it's okay," he says. "We haven't added her to the group chat yet, right?" He asks. I check and shake my head. "Okay, so send a text to everyone," he says. I type it out.

Marjan's pov:

My phone dings. I look at it. I'm trying not to make a reaction... "What's up?" Mateo asks. "Nothing," I say. "I have to use the bathroom," yn says, walking away. "All of you, look at the chat," I whisper. They all look at their phones. "Oh dang," Paul says.

That night:

Yn walks in. We told her we were playing Catan. She comes in, and we're all sitting there. She turns around to leave right away. But.. Owen told Judd to stay by the door so she couldn't. "Hey, yn," Owen says. "What?" She asks. "We just wanna help you," Paul says. "Well, I don't need it," she says, trying to push Judd. I almost laugh at the sight. Tk looks around at everyone, and we silently agree. He's been in the middle of more of these than anyone here. "Yn. I know you want to run," Tk says. "No. I just don't need help," she says. "Yes, you do. It's hard to admit. Trust me, I know... but it's the first step to getting better," he says. "You know, why don't we each tell each other things we don't know about each other? If that would help?" Owen says. "Yeah. Let's do that," Tk says, standing up. "I'm Tk Strand and.. I used to hurt myself.." he says. "I'm Owen Strand and.. I hallucinated my old fire partner in that cave in California.." he says. "I'm Paul Strickland, and I was bullied almost to s**c*de for who I am," he says. "I'm Mateo Chavez. And.. my parents used to say I'd never be anything because of my Dyslexia," he says. "Judd Ryder. My best friend died as a kid because I agreed to let him drive a car. And he crashed into a tree. I blamed myself for many years," he says. "I'm Marjan Marwani. And my best friend and his parents were killed in a car accident as a kid," I say. "Tommy Vega. Charles's brother came by, and.. we kissed.." She says. "Nancy Gillian, um.. I was bullied for my height a lot. Called things like Giant," She says. Yn looks around at everyone. "I I'm yn and I have a problem with addiction.." She says. She falls to the ground and starts crying. Tk bends down in front of her. "We're gonna help you," he says. Carlos walks in the door and looks around, confused. "What is that?" Yn asks. "Chinese food," Carlos says. "Ooh, you got Chinese?" Tk asks. "Yeah, am I interrupting something?" He asks. "Why don't we wait to go until we eat?" Yn asks. "Yeah, let's do that," Tk says.
