thank you so much🤍as the six friends noticed the couple they'd been waiting on approaching, quick glances were exchanged around the lunch table at the realisation that minho and jisung were arguing.
the younger of the two all but slammed his tray onto the table, staying stood for a beat longer as minho sat down first.
"alright, minho." jisung's voice was stern and only one of the other six friends had noticed the slight hurt underlying his words. "tell me again, what do you think of the future?"
confused but deciding not to get involved, the rest of the table stayed silent while casting the odd glimpse at both jisung and minho's expressions.
"i don't think about my future," minho sighed, his shoulders dropping like he was tired of the whole ordeal.
"but if you did." jisung countered, choosing to ignore how their adjacent knees weren't pressed together like usual.
"why would i think about my future when i don't currently have anything in particular to be overly excited about?"
immediately, hyunjin had looked to jisung, feeling his own heart waver at noticing that jisung's stern expression had dropped ever so slightly.
"...do you see me in your future?" jisung asked, his eyes taking in every change in minho's expression at the question. his eyebrows slightly furrowed only to relent as he gave another sigh.
"jisung, how am i meant to know if we'll stay together?"
as the words sunk in, jisung's lips slightly parted in shock after he'd been trying not to chew on his bottom lip to show any possible indication of vulnerability.
"s-so," jisung gulped and subtly shook his head at himself as he tried to keep his eyes on minho's. "...you don't think we'll last?"
shrugging in what could only be viewed as insouciance, minho met jisung's eyes after aimlessly fidgeting with his water on the table.
"anything could happen."
jisung was only getting more and more discouraged as he looked at the boy opposite him. how he looked so unaware of all the hurt slowly surfacing behind jisung's eyes.
"but, you don't imagine what could happen if we do stay together?"
"i don't know." minho admitted with another subtle shrug. "i like to keep the past in mind and just simply go along with everything."
as a strained silence washed over the two of them, the tension surrounding the table only increased.
jisung and minho were still yet to look at the others, and the remaining friends were stuck silently communicating with each other of whether they should intervene or not.
before one of them could speak, jisung had already settled on another question.
"have you ever thought about us staying together after we graduate?"
minho tried not to softly laugh in jisung's face, settling on placing his elbow on the table as he rested his cheek against his palm.
"sungie, graduation is months from now."
