One morning, Huckleberry Hound and his best friend Snagglepuss were watching TV. while Huck's puppy dog Pudgy rolled and chewed his favorite dog toy on the floor nearby. While the puppy played, the two best friends were watching an episode of I Love Lucy, one of their favorite television sitcoms. In this particular scene, Lucy and Ethel were wrapping chocolates.
"Well, this is easier!"
"Yeah, we can handle this okay!"
The ladies wrapped and wrapped, but then, Lucy started eating some of the chocolates! And soon, Ethel followed.
"I think we're fighting a losing game!"
Lucy kept wrapping and wrapping, while Ethel ate and ate.
"Golly! If she eats that much chocolate, she'll turn into a chocolate!" Huck chuckled. "Look at how fast she's eating!"
They then saw as Lucy stuffed some of the chocolates in her apron, and into her mouth too! Huck and Snag laughed their sides off!
"Looks like Ethel isn't the only one who loves chocolate!" Snag chortled. "Lucy's eating it all up too!"
"She must like it more than me!!" Huck cackled. As soon as he stopped laughing, he decided to change the channel.
"Oh look, Snag!" he said. "Those mountains sure are beautiful!"
"The Rocky Mountains!" Snag replied. "The crown jewels of the west, even! This must be a nature program!"
"Sure looks like it!"
And they were right! The program showed tall mountains, trees, and the woodlands. This gave Huck an amazing idea!
"I know what we should do! We should go out on a hike!"
"Hiking!?" Snag cried. "Oh, what a wonderful idea, Huck! A capital suggestion, even!"
So they packed their backpacks with food, drinks, and some things they'll need just in case, including flashlights, walkie talkies, and a zipline. Then they started walking to the park, and into the woods.
"Ahhhh, nothing like a hike to not only get some exercise, but to enjoy the wonders of nature, breathe in the fresh air, even!" Snag sighed.
"Yeah, can you smell the earth?" Huck replied, breathing deeply. "Ahhh, what a lovely scent!"
"And look at the squirrels!" Snag beamed as some squirrels scurried by them.
The little rodents were running with their bushy tails waving behind them, as they sat in the trees with their paws on their chests, twitching their noses.
"And listen to the birds singing!" Huck grinned. He whistled, imitating a bird's call.
The duo could hear some birds in the trees all around them, including a small bluebird that flew past them. One little bird even landed on the hound's nose!
"Well, what have we here?" Huck chuckled. "A cute little birdie! Awwww, aren't you the cutest?"
The bird tweeted happily, then flew away. Just then, the two friends spotted a deer and her baby fawn in the distance! They decided to walk very quietly so as to not scare them. Huck wanted to squeal over the baby fawn, but he knew that if he did, he would scare it. So he just said, "Awwwww, how cute!"
They soon came to a little stream where a little frog hopped by.
"Ribbit, ribbit!" it said.
"Awwww, look at that little frog!" Huck beamed. "I can even imitate it! Watch!"
