One morning, Huckleberry Hound had just finished working on an experiment with Professor Zink. He was testing out a new form of music therapy. As part of the experiment, Huck had to listen to different kinds of music on a record player and see how well he could concentrate while putting a puzzle together.
"Incredible!" Professor Zink finally said. "Listening to the smooth jazz seemed to show the most promising results when it came to your concentration. You completed that puzzle in record time!"
Huck chuckled. "I guess jazz really does do wonders for your mind!"
"Well, there's still a lot more research to be done, but I want to thank you for your help, Huckleberry! You've been a wonderful test subject!"
"And thank you, Professor!" Huck replied, shaking his hand. "I had a lot of fun workin' with you!"
The hound felt so proud of himself that day, he decided to go for a little walk around town.
"Thanks again for helping me with the experiment, Huck!" Professor Zink grinned.
"You're welcome!" Huck replied. "And thank you for letting me help! It sure is good to have a new form of music therapy!"
The hound waved goodbye to Professor Zink as he started walking. And as he walked, he felt so proud that he decided to start skipping, and as he did, he sang a cheerful tune. "La la la la la la la la!"
Meanwhile, Mr. Jinks had just left the market with a new crate of milk bottles that he had just bought. He put the crate in the wagon he attached to his bicycle, then got on the bike, and started pedaling off. If there's one thing Jinks loved, it was milk, and it was important to him that he got it home in time to keep it cold in his icebox. Ice cold milk was one way the orange cat could put himself in a good mood when he was feeling sad.
"Ahh, it's good to know that I have a fresh supply of my favorite dairy-type beverage," he said to himself as he pedaled down the street.
But he didn't see Huck skipping down the road. Likewise, Huck had his eyes closed at the moment while he was skipping along and singing, so he didn't see Jinks coming either. All of a sudden...
Whap! Crash!
Huck accidentally tipped the cat's bike as he slammed into it, and all the milk bottles fell out onto the sidewalk, shattering upon impact and creating a huge puddle of milk. Jinks rubbed his head as he had been knocked off his bike, and when he stood up and saw all of his milk bottles broken on the sidewalk, he let out a loud cry of anguish.
"Ohhh NOOOO!!" he yelled. "My milk! All of my milk!"
Huck grunted and picked himself up off the sidewalk, brushing off his fur. "Golly, I didn't see you comin' this way, Jinks! I'm plumb sorry about that!"
Jinks gritted his teeth and his face turned as red as a tomato. "Ohhhhh....that did it! That did it!!" he shouted. "Huck, you...you...you KLUTZ!!"
"Klutz!?" Huck cried. "But Jinks, it was only an accident! Ain't no use gettin' mad over a little spilled milk!"
"A little spilled milk?! That's ten whole dollars that you just made me waste, thanks to your bumbling!!"
"Jinks, now calm down. I can replace it. There ain't no need to get all riled up."
But Jinks didn't want to hear it, so he got his arms ready, and shoved Huck right into the puddle of milk. But unfortunately, Huck ended up with more than milk in his fur. There were pieces of broken glass all over the place from the bottles and he ended up with some painful cuts all over himself.
"YEOW!!" he howled. "Owww!! Look what you've gone and done, Jinks!"
"Oh, get over it!" the cat huffed as he picked up his bike and began to carry it away. "Maybe that'll teach you to look where you're going!"
