It was a lovely spring day in Hill Street Neighborhood. Huckleberry Hound was just out for a little walk. But as he walked he heard the sound of a slide trombone. "Whaaaaaa-whaaaaaaa!" He went over to where the sound was coming from. And he found that a trombone player was practicing his music from his living room, with the sound traveling through the open window. Huck could almost hear a chorus singing as he couldn't help but look inside, and scat.
"A slide trombone can go
(Whaaaaaaaa-whaaaaaaaa!)
Tubas do it too!
But a slide trombone can't
(Boop-oop-a-doop!)
Like ol' Huck Hound can do!"
He then heard another noise. "Tweetily tweet!" It was a clarinet player playing his clarinet from his living room!
"A clarinet can go
(Tweetily tweet!)
What a hullabaloo!
But a clarinet can't
(Boop-oop-a-doop!)
Like ol' Huck Hound can do!
This guy has got a sound that's hot
He's in the mood for swinging,
And anytime and anywhere,
You can hear this canine singing!"
Huck then heard another sound. "Boom, boom, boom!" It was a drummer, banging on a kettle drum!
"A kettle drum can go
(Boom, boom, boom!)
That's no news to you!
But a kettle drum can't
(Boop-oop-a-doop!)
Like ol' Huck Hound can do!"
Huck walked towards the pet shop where he heard another noise. "Arf, arf, arf!" From the window, he could see some adorable puppies, including a poodle!
"A poodle dog can go
(Arf, arf, arf!)
As all doggies do,
But a poodle dog can't
(Boop-oop-a-doop!)
Like ol' Huck Hound can do!"
He then passed by Farmer Morgan, who was milking his cow. It let out a "Moooooo!"
"A jersey cow can go
(Moooooo!)
All the long day through,
But a jersey cow can't
(Boop-oop-a-doop!)
Like ol' Huck Hound can do!
He sings his songs
So loud and long
He'll leave your heart-a melting
And anytime and anywhere,
You can hear this hound dog belting!"
He passed by a young girl, who was playing with her kitten. "Meow, meow!" she cried.
"A kitty cat can go
(Meow, meow!)
Even purr and mew!
