One crisp, autumn day, Huckleberry Hound was busy raking the leaves in his backyard. It was a bit of a chilly day, so he had his red scarf on to help him keep warm. He raked over by his garden, by his pool, by his backyard stage. Soon all the leaves were in a great big pile!

"Alright!" he said, stepping back. "Now that I've got these here leaves in a pile, I can do what I've been waiting to do all morning!"

He took a running start, and he did a great big jump. "Wheeeeeee!!!" he squealed.

He leaped right into the pile of leaves! Then he stuck his head out and laughed gleefully as he threw them up in the air and played in them. "Jumping in leaves is one of my favorite things about autumn!" he said. "And I love all the beautiful colors they change into as well!"

That gave him an idea. So he hopped on his red scooter, and kicked off into town. As he rode, he saw the leaves on the trees turning red, orange, yellow, and brown. Yes, autumn was in the air, and it was beautiful! Soon, Huck came into town, and as he rode along the sidewalk, he stopped to read a flyer that was posted on the front window of the corner market.

"Hill Street Neighborhood Apple Festival...this Saturday!" he read. "Leapin' lizards! That sounds like a great way to spend a weekend! I'll tell the gang!"

And he kicked off to tell his friends. He wondered where they could be on such a fine day. He finally found them at the game center, watching as Mr. Jinks was about to score some major points at the skeeball game.

"Hi, Jinks!!" Huck shouted.

Jinks let out a yelp, and rolled the ball up the alley, but he didn't score any points. He was steamed, but Huck couldn't help laughing at his reaction. The cat marched up to him, and scowled.

"Huck, you startled me!" he said. "Don't ever startle me like that!"

"Sorry, Jinks! I just wanted to tell y'all the good news!"

"Good news? Well, I'll tell you what's new, Huck! You startled me, and it wasn't funny!"

"I'm not laughing, Jinks."

"Jinks, don't..." Hokey Wolf tried to say.

But Jinks got his arms ready, and shoved Huck to the ground.

Huck sniffled. "Again with the shoving, Jinks?!" Then he started to sob. "Ahhhahahahaha! Why do you have to act so mean?"

Hokey was steamed. "Jinks! How many times do we have to tell you not to shove Huck!?"

"But he startled me!" Jinks cried.

"He was just having fun! You know what? I've had enough! You've been asking for this for too long, and now it's high time you knew what it felt like! Once I calm Huck down, I'll deal with you!"

He went up to Huck along with Snagglepuss, Pixie, and Dixie. "It's okay, Huck. Calm down. Relax. I'm sure he didn't mean it."

"He meant it alright!" Huck sobbed. "That really hurt!"

"Simmer down, Huck!" Snag said. "Calm yourself, even. It's going to be alright!"

Huck stopped crying, and looked at his friends. "Y-y-you mean it?"

"Yeah!" Hokey replied. "And while we're at it, wanna hear a joke?"

"Sure!"

"Okay! How does a bee get to school?"

"Hmmmm, how does a bee get to school? Beats me, Hokey! How does a bee get to school?"

Hokey chuckled. "On a buzz!"
