"C'mon lets go" Mike says, practically dragging me out the door. I laugh, loving how he was so excited about this audition, and he put his bass in the backseat, telling Ryan and Jimmy and Alana to guard it. I got in the driver's seat, him telling me directions, and we soon arrived at a place called Gilman. The place looked run down and not a very good environment for little kids.

"Mike...I don't know about this" I sigh, and he gives me a pleading grin.

"There's no cars here, it's not like there's gonna be anybody in here to hurt you" He sighs, and I give up.

"Okay" I sigh, getting out.

He takes Alana in one arm, and his bass in the other as I get Ryan and Jimmy. We walk in, and my heart nearly stopped. Those two. Together. Mike stopped, and I grabbed him by the back of the shirt, shaking my head. He pushed me away, and stared the other two down while they did the same with smirks.

"Hey Dirnt, I never knew you played bass" Trè Cool, who wasn't cool at all says, getting up and coming over to us both. He grabbed Mike's arm, and he pushed him off of him, looking frustrated.

"Dude listen, everything that happened in high school....just forget it and know that I'm sorry okay?" Billie Joe says, looking more serious. They both looked to me, and I sighed, looking down as if to say "Don't bring me into this."

"So....everything good?......Please man" Billie says one last time, and Mike finally speaks.

"Sure...whatever, but hurt one of my kids or her and ill fucking kill you....we have a deal?" He asks, and Billie and Trè both look to each other, sticking out their hands.

"Deal" They both say in unison, and Mike grabs them, shaking. I kept quiet, I didn't have any interest in talking to either one of them. Mike put Alana down on her feet, and went over to where they had their instruments set up.

"How many guys have you had in here?" He asks, and Billie sighs like he's exhausted.

"Like too many to count....you any good?" He asks, and Mike shrugs.

"I guess we get to find out then Blondie" Trè speaks up, and Mike whips his head around.

"That's another part of the deal...buster. don't call me names that aren't mine" Trè laughs and gets grabbed by the collar, Alana hiding her face in my leg to look away. He pushed him away, a cymbal crashing, and Billie just laughed. They played, Mike following in the beat and sound, and they finished, Billie and Trè with a bit of wide eyes.

"Wow...you're great dude" Billie speaks up, and Trè joins in.

"Yeah, you should so come back...like.....I think you could be our guy...if you know what I mean" Trè raises his eyebrows, and Mike lets out a small laugh.

"I'm not gay" He chuckles, and Billie speaks up.

"Obviously dude, we don't have three fucking kids like you do" Billie says, and Mike smiles for the first time.

"So what? Hurt them and you'll never have the chance" He hisses back. Billie lets out a small laugh, looking happy.

"Dont worry dude, anyways, you wanna be the guy? Y'know....wanna be our bass player?" He asks, and Mike shifts his weight from one foot to the other.

"Uh....I mean....we should have more practices" He says, and Trè nods.

"Yeah, you can't have a band if your fighting all the time" Trè says, all of them agreeing.

"Okay, how about this weekend?" Billie asks. "We can practice at my house" Mike nods with a sure, and they discuss a time. He comes back to where I was sitting, and I get up, ready to walk out with him.

"Cute kids Layla" Billie says, and I stop, closing my eyes. I sigh, and turn around to face him.

"Thanks....Billie" I reply, and he gives a sorry nod. Trè gives a wave that I ignore, and Mike takes me out.

"God I wanted to rip their fucking heads off" Mike groans, and Alana giggles.

"Fuck" She yells, stomping her foot on the ground.

"Alana!!" I scold, and she gives me.innocent eyes.

"I told you not to talk like that!!" I say, scolding Mike as well with a slap upside his mother fucking head. At least I say my cuss words in my mind.

"Ow!! God, it's not my fault, she was just agreeing with me " He says in defense, and I roll my eyes, putting all three kids in the back seat.

"So...are you gonna go over to Billie's for practice?" I ask, buckling my seat belt.

"I dunno...I'm gonna think about it" He sighs, and stays quiet the rest of the way home. I didn't know if I really wanted him to go away, he had never been away from me for one day since I've really even known him, and I wasn't ready to let him go, and I certainly wouldn't go with him. Oh well, maybe he'd actually do good, maybe they'd work....who knows.
