An Old Friend

I eventually had to go home to avoid being yelled at by my mom,and when I got there my hands stayed in my pockets,they would kill me if they found out that I was engaged,let alone pregnant,but there was one thing on my list that I wanted to do,that I needed to do.

" Hey sweetie " My mom greets from the living room,a paper in her hand.

" Hey " I greet back,not even stopping for a second. I run up my stairs,and get to my room,closing the door and locking it before I take out my phone. My thumb hovers over Aleigha's number,and I force myself to call her.

" Hello ? " She asks on the third ring,her voice happy and filled with joy. I give myself a minute before I reply though.

" Hey Aleigha " I greet back in a sigh. Everything goes quiet on the other line,and I hear an aggravated sigh.

" Oh,hey Layla,that is your name right ? " She asks,I can hear the attitude in her voice,but I didn't care,she had every right.

" Yeah,um...listen,I'm really sorry about l those things I said to you... " I start,and feel the familiar lump begin to form in my throat,letting me know I was choking back tears. " And if I ever needed a best friend to talk to it's you,and you were always right,you were right about everything trust me,and I've got so much I want to tell you,but I hurt you,and that's not what best friends do,so can you please forgive me ? " I ask,letting some tears fall. I hear a happy chuckle on the other end,and she responds.

" If course,I forgive you,I knew that same old Layla was in there,come over to my place and we can talk some,yeah ? " She asks happily,I feel myself smile,and I agree.

" Yeah,I'll see you in a few " I agree,she dismisses me,and I drive off in the direction of her house.

****Aleigha's POV****

Layla just called me for the first time in months,and now she's coming over. I knew she didn't change deep down,she's still the same of Layla,but the company she keeps still has me worried about her,especially when she said I was right about everything,not even the old Layla would say that. There's a knock on my door,and I rush to it,opening it,and engulfing her in a huge hug. I've missed her,and I've missed her personality.

" I missed you " I laugh,she laughs with me,and I pull away,inviting her inside. I pull her in by grabbing her hand,a hand that has a ring on it...I look down to it,then back up to her,and she gives me a happy smile.

" I told you I needed to talk to you about a lot of things,this is only one of them " She laughs,letting me admire her sparkling diamond ring. It was beautiful,but I never imagined somebody like Mike doing something so serious. I take her up to my room where she informs me on a bunch of stuff,mostly about all the arguments between her,Mike,and his mom,but then she pauses.

" And another thing you were right about was... " She starts,then looks down with a laugh,playing with her ring.

" Was what,c'mon hurry up,you're killing me " I laugh,trying to get her to proceed.

" I'm pregnant !! " She squealed happily,and I never thought I would be so happy to hear news like that from her,but I was overjoyed,and I hugged her tight.

" Aww,I'm so happy for you " I say,congratulating her.

" Thanks... " She gushes,then looks down.

" Does Mike know ? " I ask,curious.

" Thats the thing,he planned it,he planned everything. He took away everything like one at a time,and then yesterday he's all like " can we have sex ? " And I'm just like well yeah,of course we can,then he's like that means it worked,then he proposed to me " She rambled on happily,mocking Mike's dialogue.

" Thats sweet Layla,but I'm gonna be honest,I've never even imagined Mike being so serious before,he never even had a real girlfriend before you,so that just proves how much He loves you " I said laughing,she blushed a bit,and looked down. We spent the rest of the day together until she had to " Go home " which probably meant She was going to see her new fiance,but I didn't care,I was happy for her,and she even agreed to start coming to school again,which she hadn't done it weeks. She's slowly changing back to the old her,and thank god her hair grows fast.
