"I don't want you to go" I say softly, hugging him tightly.
"I know, but I have to. I'll be back, and I'll call you first thing I can okay?" I choke back the tears, and nod. We had just gotten married yesterday, both of us with matching rings on our fingers, and he had to leave me.
"Promise?" I ask, and he smiles, kissing me quick.
"I promise" He whispers, and hugs me again. We stay like that a minute, and the horn honks on the bus. I sighed, hanging my head, and he smiles.
"I'll be back" He assures for the hundredth time. Alana and Ryan all cried at the door, and I chuckled.
"I better go join them....be safe, and don't forget to call" He nods, laughing, and kisses me again before waving bye to them. I walked back inside, trying to comfort my crying kids, but we were comforting each other really. I watched the bus until it was no longer in sight, and finally had my own moment to break down and cry. They soon got over it, and it made me even more sad just to look at them. I saw him in all of them, the hair, the eyes, the smiles. I needed to get my own kids away from me, or go somewhere where I could take my mind of things, Yes, I'd go to my mom's.
"Who wants to go see Grandma and Grandpa?" I ask, and they all squeal.
"Me first!!" Alana yells, running out to the car in no shoes. She tried to reach the handle to the front seat, but I grabbed her, and placed her in the back with the others. Even the car was reminding me of him. He rarely let me drive his car. And now it's all I had. I drove to my mom's, and stepped out with them all, Alana running to the door, standing on her toes to reach the doorbell, which she rang way more many times than she should have.
The door opened, and my mom stood there, welcoming me with a smile as always.
"Hello my little munchkins...where's Mike?" She asks, and I sigh, taking deep breaths to hold back the tears that were threatening to come.
"Today's the day he left for tour remember?" I ask, the tears now swimming in my eyes. She smiled, and I let out a sad chuckle as she brought me in for a hug. She rubbed my back, and I took some more breaths to finally stop the tears. She pushed me away by my shoulders, and wiped away one of the tears still remaining on my cheek.
"Everything will be fine, you're welcome to stay here as long as he's gone for all I care" She chuckles, and I finally laugh.
"Thanks mom, where'd...." I start, looking around for Alana until I hear glass break in the kitchen. We both rush in, and Alana stands on the counter, a broken plate on the floor.
"Hey, get down!! No!!" I scold, and mom rushes to clean up the glass on the floor.
"She's fine, there's no damage done, she's only little Layla" I sighed, and Alana peeked out from around the cupboard door, holding a box of pancake mix.
"Pancakes Grandma?" She asks, and my mom just laughs, taking her and them down.
"Of course, lets see here, do we have enough to feed a family of six?" She laughs as she talks, putting on her reading glasses to read the directions. I laughed a bit, and sat down at the table, Jimmy on my lap. I kept my phone in front of me on the table, making sure I didn't miss a call.
"Grandma can I pour?" Alana asks, and she sets her up on the counter, handing Alana the measuring cup. I watched her carefully as she poured, and sighed.
"Where's dad?" I ask, and she keeps her back to me.
"He should be home soon, he just went out to get a couple things for the truck" I nod, and watch Alan clap as she successfully poured the batter into the pan.
