[ this chapter is in third person pov ]...Elizabeth grabbed the bouquet from Rosalynn and handed her a folded piece of paper. Charlie watched her adoringly. Rosalynn cleared her throat before speaking..
"Umm.. I hope this isn't too long. But I had to be sure I covered everything, so.."
Charlotte nodded as she looked to her. A faint smile lingering on her lips.
"Charlotte. My Charlie. I would say that you are the absolute love of my life, but that doesn't seem right to me. The weight of those words aren't heavy enough to describe who and what you are to me. You are my peace of mind when I've had a hectic day. You are my blanket of comfort when my world seems cold. My light at the end of the tunnel. You are mine.
Charlie, you came into my life at the most inopportune time. A time where I was fragile. Defeated in love. Damaged, even. And I didnt know if I would ever love again. But from the moment we connected, that first time I took you home, I admit I became enthralled by your presence. I found myself wanting to know you. To be around you, take care of you. I just wanted to be a part of your world. Looking back, I often wonder if I fell for you too quickly. If I didnt have a grip on reality and just let my heart lead the way like a giddy school girl. If I jumped in too soon. This heart of mine.. it feels everything so intensely. So genuinely. And as days went by, my heart became engulfed by your very existence. I remember when you first professed your love for me. I hesitated to respond, remember? But not because I didnt feel the same, but because I knew in my heart that was the first step towards forever. Our forever. And the thought of you being mine weighed heavy on my mind. Suffocatingly. So very suffocating. But it was then that I knew... I never wanted to breathe again.
[Ros takes another breath]
I am so madly in love with you Charlotte. You set my soul on fire. You are beautiful beyond measure. I have never been able to resist those big, gorgeous grey eyes. Those eyes that have always seen right through me. When you look at me, nothing else matters. You see me for who I am, every part of me. The way you look at me makes me feel like I'm the only woman in this entire world. I know that you are my person, Charlie. You are the woman I was made for. You always joke that I was meant to be a wife but I was meant to be your wife. You make me a better person. You make me want to be better. You are my reason for being. You have shown me time and time again that you are my protector and my safe haven. You complete me in ways I didnt even know were possible. The greatest accomplishment in life is to love and be loved. And baby, you do it for me.
We didnt always get it right, obviously. We had a few hiccups over the last seven and a half years, but thats okay. We stayed the course. We found our way back home and I know that I will do everything in my power to keep us this way. I want to say thank you for giving me our sweet girl, Cara. [She looks over to the flower girl] She is like her mama in a million ways and I love every one. You are raising her to be respectful and strong, soft and loving. To be mindful of other's feelings and always expressive of her own. She absolutely adores you, you are superwoman to her. Nothing is sexier than watching you parent. She is so very lucky to have you as a mama, my love.
I stand here today, before all of our family and friends and make these vows to you. I promise to be a shoulder to lean on, when life is too much to bear on your own. I promise to be patient, understanding and kind. I will continue to build a life with you. Our house will always be a home because you are in it. And when this life ends, I promise that I will find you in the next and love you all over again. I will remain faithful to you. And never lose that spark. I will do all of the little things that make you happy. I will encourage you and support you on all of your current and future endeavors. For better or worse, we will share the good times and bad. I will honor, cherish, and respect you and our union for the rest of my days.
