Neverland {Levi Ackerman}

Chapter 24

Fable sits on the bench sitting on her knees. Her back is to Levi and the others. She looks up at the stars. She head lays on her forearm.
"You should understand. This is Kenny the Ripper," she hears Levi state behind her, "if he's there, he's our biggest obstacle. In terms of his threat, it's like you'll be fighting me. Or wait. With those weapons of his, he'll be stronger."
"Then he's unbeatable. At least for us," Fable says turning around to look at him.
"Maybe we should wait for other soldiers," she hears Connie say.
"No chance in hell," Mikasa states.
"Right of course not," Connie responds, "if we wait for reinforcements, then Eren might get eaten."
"You know, based on what the captain just told us," Armin says before continuing, "the odds won't be entirely in Kenny's favor."
"You really think so," Jean says looking back at him.
"Yeah. His squad is well trained, but we have way more combat experience," Armin explains.
"Have to ask. How is it that you lived with Kenny the Ripper but know next to nothing about him?" Hange asks looking at Levi, "did the two of you never talk?"
Fable goes and sits next to Levi as he talks, "not much. I only just learned the man's last name. Dunno if you heard but it's Ackerman. Might be a relative of yours."
              Fable looks over at Mikasa as she speaks, "I remember my parents saying that my dad's side, the Ackermans, were persecuted when they lived in the cities. My mom said her ancestors were Eastern. Her family's appearance made it difficult for them to fit in. Both groups were chased deep into the mountains near the edge of the walls. That's how my parents met. But my father never told me why the Ackermans were persecuted. He looked the same as all of you, so I don't think he was of a different race."
                 "Tell me this: have you ever suddenly felt a "power" awake inside you?" Levi asks looking at the girl.
                "I have," Mikasa responds looking at him.
               "This has happened for Kenny Ackerman as well. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he felt an absurd amount of strength surging through him. And in that moment, he knew just what he needed to do. And it's happened to me too. Makes me wonder."
                Fable looks at Levi and then at Mikasa. She then looks back at Levi who was looking at her. He leans into her ear.
               "We got a lot of things to talk about when we get back don't we darling," Levi says softly.
                 Fable looks at him and says, "yeah that's for sure."
                He then sits up patting her head before saying, "don't think about it too much, we need your head to get Eren and Historia back."
                Fable smiles at him before watching the chapel come into view. She starts chewing on the inside of her cheek. She feels Levi's hand against her thigh.
                 "Levi can you look over my gear?" she asks looking at him.
                Furrowing his eyebrows, Levi says, "it's fine Fable. You're fine just breathe."
               "Levi," she says looking at him.
                 Levi sighs softly looking at her. "Darling it's fine. You've barely used," he says kissing her forehead, "if anything happens I'll be right there."
               She smiles softly as the wagon stops and says, "let's kick some Kenny Ackerman ass."
               Levi watches as the other two climb out and says, "that's my girl, but I'll handle Kenny."
               He helps her out of the wagon as the whole squad walks into the chapel. Fable starts looking for a secret doorway or anything really that'll lead them to the two kids.
                "Found it," Hange whispers lifting a rug, "A hidden door. Reiss and Eren should be inside. Hopefully the layouts close to what I predicted."
                "These presents better pay off considering the time we spent prepping them," Levi says kneeling on the next to Hange.
                 "Kay we should be ready to go," Armin says looking at the captain.
                 "All right then. Is everyone here ready?" Levi asks looking at everyone, " Cause you all are about to dirty your hands."
                 Everyone stays silent. Fable looks at everyone and then at Levi.
                 "Guess that's a yes," he says opening door.
                The squad climbs down the stairs following Levi until they reach yet another door. Levi kicks open the door. Fable and others roll the barrels down even more stairs. Everyone runs out as Sasha shoots a fire arrow to one of the barrels causing smoke to release.
                "Thirty-five total! In the upper parts of the pillars!!" Fable hears Levi yell as she shoots flare guns causing more smoke, " Continue the plan! We'll take them all out right here!"
                Fable uses her ODM gear to silently fly through the air. She hears one on her left so she flies that way. Using her blade, she cuts open the back of the soldier's neck, then immediately digs her other blade into the one next to him. She continues cutting open soldiers. She hears a couple gun shots and flies over to them. She sees a soldier. Fable spirals to the guy and gabs her blade into his chest. She then feels a hook jab into her shoulder. She is then thrown against one of the pillars.
                "Fable!!" Sasha yells looking at her bad on the ground.
                 Levi hears Sasha. He looks to see Fable on the ground bleeding and not moving. He watches as the enemy starts retreating. Levi immediately flies over to Fable to see Hange already treating her.
                 "What happened?" he asks looking down at the girl.
                Hange looks up at him and says, "she took a hook straight to the soldier. Poor girl took a beating but she's still alive."
                 Hange stands up as Levi kneels down next to Fable's body. He looks over her wound. He frowns softly standing up.
                 "We have to keep going patch her so we keep pushing forward," Levi orders watching as Armin tries to patch girl up, "Hange patch her up."
                He looks away as Hange patches her up and picks her up. The squad continues walking until they couldn't do to the end being blocked off.
               "Might be a way through," Levi says looking up.
"That light," Jean says
"Damn no," Levi says squinting his eyes.
"Captain it opened up," Armin says pointing up.
"Okay Armin, Moblit go with Hange and find a way of here with Fable," he orders to them.
The three of them manage to get out of the chapel with Fable just in time for it to collapse. Fable starts to regain consciousness. She looks at where the chapel was to see the ground was sunken in and an enormous titan coming out of it.
"LEVI!!!!" she yells trying to get up.
"Fable no you're in no shape of going over there," Armin says looking at her.
Fable looks at Armin and watches the distraction happen in front of her eyes. She stands watching the titans move away from them.
"Oh Fable I got a surprise for you," she hears Hange say from behind her, "she's much better than before."
"Thank you Hange," Fable hears Levi say and then a few footsteps.
She looks at Levi standing next to her and then looks away. "I know you're going to say that was a pretty stupid thing you did," she says has the others start climbing out of the hole.
"I'm not that heartless brat," he says looking at her.
She looks over at him smiling and says, "I know. Not gonna lie I thought I almost lost you back there."
"I could say the same thing to you," he says chuckling slightly wrapping an arm around her.
"Ow," she says softly.
Levi furrows his eyebrows and then places a kiss against her forehead as the others came over to them.
"Let's kill the son of a bitch," he says looking at everyone, "gather the horses."
He helps Fable walk over to the wagon and in it as well before he gets on his horse. Then the squad heads out again in the direction of where the titan was heading. They eventually meet up with Erwin.
"Erwin," Fable hears Levi say.
"Anyone hurt?" Erwin asks looking into the wagon.
"Yeah Fable took a hit," Levi responds looking at the commander.
Fable waves to him as Erwin says, "Doesn't look like anything too serious. You've done excellent work all of you."
"I've got a whole slew of things to report," Levi starts
"But first, anything on that titan?" Erwin asks looking at him.
"It's Rod Reiss," Levi responds, "Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this, Commander."
"Time's short. We can't afford to stand here and chat. Head back to the wall."
"You're gonna let that thing drag it's fat ass all the way to Sine?"
"Well, more specifically, I'm letting it continue towards Orvud District."
Fable feels the wagon start up again. She closes her eyes listening to everyone talk about how to potentially stop the rod titan. Soon enough the wagon stops. Historia and Eren help her out of the wagon and then Hange and Moblit take her to get to her shoulder checked out before the meeting. Hange gives her a few stitches and put her arm in a sling. The three of them walk to the meeting room.
"Hey Fable I just want to say despite your injury you did great in battle you should be proud," she hears Moblit telling her.
"Moblit no flirting with blondes," Hange says pushing open the doors to the room.
Fable goes and stands with the rest of Levi's squad behind him. She stands and listens to Erwin's plan. Once the meeting was over, Fable follows everyone out of the room. She waits for Levi outside of the room. She watches as he leaves finally leaves the room.
Fable smiles at him walking with him then frowns looking at his face. "Levi?" she says looking at him.
                  "What?" he asks looking at her.
                  "Nothing I just wanted to say I love you," she says softly kissing his cheek softly before going to join the rest of the squad waiting for orders.
