Chapter 34

Hange's titan executioner which has been crushing titans day and night went silent at first snow fall. Months later, when the snow started melting, the military announced that Wall Maria was free of titans. By the time the elevators on Trost's walls were freed for use and work begun on paving the main road, flowers started to bloom and butterflies danced between them. Maria's refugees were finally allowed to return to their homes about a year after what had been called "humanity's first victory" in Trost. So, six years after the Colossal Titan's first attack the Scouts resumed their expeditions, exploring the world beyond the walls once again.
             Fable rides behind Levi and Hange beyond the walls.
             "It's just as you thought, Hange," Levi states, "most of the titans had already gone inside Wall Maria. We've all but wiped them out, and it only took us a single year."
              "Then let's push straight forward," Hange says to him looking forward, "exactly how we planned."
            The scouts continue their expedition until the grass turned into sand. As they got closer another wall came into view, the wall that they used to turn Eldians to titans according to Eren. Fable follows Hange and Levi around the wall and up a hill. They all stop at a cliff with a view of the sea. Fable's eyes widens looking at it.
             "Can we?" she asks looking at Levi.
               "Go ahead," he says smiling softly at her eagerness.
                    Fable quickly gets off her horse and takes off her odm gear. She then carefully runs down a path to the water where she pulls her boots off. The rest of the survey corps follows her. 
                 Levi stays on top of the cliff with Hange for bit. He smiles watching Fable play in the water. He sticks he's hand into his pocket and pulls out a ring causing Hange to gasp.
                  "You're going to do it?" they ask looking at him, "right her right now you're going to do it?"
                    "I'm not sure if I want you and the other brats around," he says putting it back in his pocket.
                  "LEVI!!" he hears Fable call to him, "come on!!"
                   Levi smiles softly and heads down the path toward the sea. Once on the beach, Fable immediately runs over to him.
                  "Levi come on," she says pulling on his arm slightly.
                "I'm not going in there," he says looking at her.
               She sighs looking at him and says, "Levi this isn't how you enjoy it."
                 "I am enjoying it," he says softly looking at her, "I'm enjoying watching you enjoying it."
                Fable smiles softly at him and then watches the kids play in the water. She looks back at him. She wraps her arms around his waist and places her head against his chest. She closes her eyes listening to Levi's heartbeat and the waves crashing against the sand.
                  "Fable come with me for a second," she hears Levi say.
Levi takes her back up to the cliff. He looks down to see Hange giving him the thumbs up.
"What's up captain?" she asks looking at him smiling.
"Will you marry me?" he asks looking at her.
"What?"
"Will you..."
"Yes"
"What?" Levi questions looking at her
"Yes Levi," she says smiling at him, "a million times yes. even if you asked yesterday or tomorrow yes."
"Oh I also got you," he says putting his hand in his pocket pulling out a ring.
Levi hands the ring over Fable. She gasps looking at it. Her eyes fill up with tears.
"My mother's ring," she says looking up at him, "how'd you get it? or how'd you even find it?"
"Hange and I were over by your village and we stopped by," he says softly looking at it, "I found it on a shelf in the bedroom at your home."
He barely got the last word out of his when Fable wraps arms around his neck. She kisses him softly but passionately. Levi pulls away groaning hearing the cheers from below them.
Fable giggles and says, "I love you."
"I love you more," Levi says placing a kiss against her forehead.
