The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm and inviting glow across Mallory and Taylor's home. The air was filled with a sense of anticipation as she moved about the room, her voice a soft and soothing melody that seemed to weave itself into the very fabric of the day. Peter lay on the changing table, his bright eyes fixed on his mother as he cooed and kicked his tiny legs in excitement.
As Mallory gently unzipped Peter's pyjamas, her voice carried a gentle hum that mingled with the rustling of fabric. She smiled down at her son, her eyes twinkling with affection. "Your mum is in the studio this morning," she murmured, her voice a tender caress that wrapped around Peter like a warm embrace. "She goes early in the morning or late so that she doesn't miss out on anything during the day. You'll get to see her in a little while, Peter Pan."
With practised ease, Mallory lifted Peter, her fingers moving deftly to clean and dress him. Her singing continued, a quiet serenade that seemed to infuse the room with a sense of tranquillity. Peter's giggles and gurgles became a playful counterpoint to Mallory's melody, creating a duet that was uniquely theirs.
After Peter was dressed in a onesie, Mallory carefully picked him up and cradled him in her arms. Her voice shifted into a hushed lullaby, a soft melody that danced through the air as she swayed gently from side to side. Peter's eyelids drooped, and his contented sighs signalled his growing drowsiness.
With a smile, Mallory made her way to the hallway, where the pushchair awaited. She secured Peter into the pram, making sure he was snug and comfortable. Her singing continued, a whisper of notes that seemed to carry them both forward, filling the mundane task of getting ready for a walk with a sense of magic and connection.
Mallory herself put on a Philadelphia Eagles cap and sunglasses.
As Mallory pushed the perambulator down the sidewalk, her voice remained a constant presence, a quiet companion on their journey. Peter's eyes darted around, taking in the sights and sounds of the neighbourhood. Mallory pointed out the colourful flowers and waved at passing neighbours, her voice a gentle guide that helped Peter make sense of the world around him.
They reached the nearby park, and Mallory found a nice spot beneath a sprawling tree. She parked the stroller and lifted Peter out, cradling him in her arms. With a soft smile, she sat down on a blanket and began to sing a lilting melody that seemed to blend seamlessly with the rustling leaves and distant laughter of children playing.
As Mallory sang, she unzipped a small bag and retrieved a bottle of milk for Peter. She held it to his lips, her voice a gentle encouragement as he eagerly nursed. The soft sounds of his feeding melded harmoniously with Mallory's singing, creating a moment of intimacy and connection that transcended the ordinary.
After Peter had finished his milk, Mallory placed the bottle aside and shifted her focus to the toys she had brought along. She dangled a colourful rattle in front of Peter, her voice a playful invitation as she encouraged him to reach out and grasp it. Peter's tiny fingers closed around the rattle, and his delighted laughter mingled with Mallory's singing, creating a symphony of joy that echoed through the park.
Eventually, Mallory decided to start walking through the park again, the soft chirping of birds providing a soothing soundtrack to her leisurely walk instead of her singing. Little Peter giggled and cooed in his pushchair, his tiny fingers grasping at the colourful toys dangling above him. Mallory's heart swelled with love and contentment as she watched her son explore the world around him.
