Hi

May, 2021

Mallory and Taylor had always dreamed of expanding their family. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and the pitter-patter of tiny paws from their beloved cats, but they both longed for the joy of having children of their own. After a year or so of discussions, planning, and research, they found themselves at the doorstep of a fertility clinic, ready to embark on their journey towards parenthood.

Mallory, with a heart full of hope and a touch of nervousness, sat in the waiting room of the clinic. The walls were adorned with soothing artwork, and the gentle hum of a tranquil melody played softly in the background. Taylor sat beside her, holding her hand tightly, their fingers intertwined. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, her smile a reflection of the dreams they were about to make a reality.

As they were called into the consultation room, Mallory and Taylor were greeted by Dr. Anderson, a warm and compassionate fertility specialist. Dr. Anderson carefully explained the IUI (intrauterine insemination) procedure, its process, and how it would increase their chances of conceiving. Mallory listened intently, her heart racing with anticipation. Taylor's unwavering support was a constant source of comfort throughout the conversation.

In the days leading up to the IUI, Mallory diligently followed the instructions provided by the clinic. She took her medications, monitored her ovulation, and underwent the necessary tests. Taylor was by her side every step of the way, offering encouragement, cooking her favourite meals, and even surprising her with a heartfelt letter expressing her love and excitement for their future as parents.

The morning of the IUI arrived, and the atmosphere was filled with both nervous energy and joyful anticipation.

Taylor had shuffled her chair closer to the hospital bed and was resting her head on Mallory's thighs as she made loose plaits in her wife's hair.

"If it works," Taylor started, words slightly muffled by Mallory's leg. "I won't do any tours until they're old enough for kindergarten."

Mallory chuckled. "You don't have to do that. You're happiest when you're touring."

"Mm-mm. But I'd be happier than my happiest watching our kid grow up," She said before sighing. "I kind of want to go out with a bang, you know?" Taylor asked. "Like, do a tour where each show is like three hours long where I just sing songs from all of my eras then just disappear."

"You want to do an eras tour?" Mallory asked. "I can see you doing that. Would it be before or after you finish with the re-recordings?"

"Hmm... depends on if this works, I guess. You know. Fearless and Red this year, I don't know what two next. But I don't have to think about that yet."

"Hear me out," Mallory said. "End with either Rep or debut. So you'd either end by getting your reputation back or with the old Taylor being dead again or you'd end by getting your name back."

"Are you just saying that because you want Speak Now next?"

Mallory laughed. "Oh, no! You caught onto my master plan!" There was a pause before Mallory muttered, "Do you think it'll be weird? Since our kid and Soraya's will be genetically siblings."

"Not really," Taylor shrugged. "Knowing how close you and Soraya are, you'll raise them as siblings anyway," She chuckled.

Mallory smiled.

"Mallory Williams," A fertility specialist called out, making them separate and look up to see her smile. "We're ready for you. If you could please lay down."
