"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone,
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run."

I knew it was going to be easy retrieving Kuroi.

But she was all the way somewhere in Okinawa...

We had to take a flight to our destination, guarded by Suguru's cursed spirit, Satoru had to observe literally everyone to flesh out Curse users, and I just had to stick with Riko.

I realised that I actually really like her.

She even offered to do my nails for me, which I allowed her to do to alleviate any stress she might have had. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't regret it once she painted my nails a rather...interesting shade of pink.

I forced myself to smile it off.

"You're like the sister I've never had..." She whispered, her eyes soft and fixed on the nail she was painting hot pink.

A smile made its way onto my lips.

"How come? What about Kuroi?" I asked softly, leaning back into my seat.

"Kuroi's always been like a mother to me, but it's nice to have someone like you around..."

I just hummed in response, fixing my gaze in front of me.

It was hard to believe she was going to die soon...

"I was born and raised in Paris," I started, catching Riko's attention.

"I knew you weren't from around here! I just didn't want to ask in case you'd be uncomfortable!" She perked up, a wide smile on her face at the news I had just given her.

I just chuckled before continuing.

"My clan was shit. They hurt my mother and me when my father was away on missions, and we had to endure it all. My mother tried her hardest to protect me, but it was futile. When my father found out, we all left and started a new life in the woods. It was nice. We were happy..." I fixed my gaze on the ceiling of the plane.

I may as well try and resonate with her before she dies.

"It was happy until it wasn't. Someone was sent by my clan to kill us, but I managed to fight and escape. My parents weren't so lucky. They died that same night." I looked back at Amanai when I felt the strokes of the brush on my nail come to a halt.
