It's pitch black until another door opens and leads us into a hallway We start to walk down it when it leads us to a door with the sign "exit" sign over it " Seriously" fry mumbles
I open the door and see what looks like a lab but it has body's everywhere
Blood is on the floors the walls There are screens with cameras showing us the glade "So they were watching us. The whole time" newt says looking at the camera view
We start to walk around and I come to a desk that looks familiar and I look up to see Thomas across from me and Teresa to my right. Just like my dreams. I see a red button at my desk and decided to click it A lady pops up on a big screen
"Hello, My name is Doctor Ava Paige. I'm Director of Operations of the World Catastrophe Killzone Department. If you're watching this, that means you've successfully completed the Maze Trials. I wish I could be there in person to congratulate you... but circumstances seem to have prevented it. I'm sure by now, you must all be very confused... angry... frightened. I can only assure you, that everything that's happened to you... everything we've done to you... it was all done for a reason. You won't remember... but the sun has scorched our world. Billions of lives lost to fire... famine... suffering on a global scale. The fallout was unimaginable. What came after was worse. We called it the Flare. A deadly virus that attacks the brain. It is violent... unpredictable... incurable. Or so we thought." Ava Paige says. My bitch of a aunt explains
While she speaks images pop up of the flare
"In time, a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly, there was a reason to hope for a cure." Ava says "But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed inside harsh environments where their brain activity could be studied. All in an effort to understand what makes them different... what makes you different. You may not realize it... but you're very important."
As she speaks I see guards behind her come in with guns come in shooting all the scientists and start to shoot the glass behind her.
"Unfortunately, your trials have only just begun. As you'll no doubt soon discover, not everyone agrees with our methods. Progress is slow, people are scared. It may be too late for us... for me... but not for you. The outside world awaits. Remember..." she pulls out a gun "..Wicked is good." She says then she shoots herself just as the glass breaks behind her
It all seemed to perfect. Everything about the video, it was all timed to perfect.
"Is it over?" Chuck spoke up "She said we were important, What are we supposed to do now?" Newt asks "I don't know, let's get outta here." I say waking towards the door
But we were stopped in our tracks by a voice
"No." We turned our heads to see Gally there with a gun in his hand "Gally." I said raising my hand taking a step forward "Don't," Teresa said grabbing my arm "He's been stung" she adds "We can't leave." Gally says pointing the gun at me "We did. Gally, we're out. We're free." I said calmly "Free? You think we're free out there? No. No, there's no escape from this place." He says as he starts to cry "Gally, listen to me. You're not thinking straight. You're not. Now, we can help you. Just put down the gun." I say "I belong to the maze." He starts "Just put down the gun." I tell him "We all do." He says as he pulls the trigger
I let out a gasp excepting to feel the bullet but it never came. Finally my mind wraps around what happened. Minho threw a spear and it hit tally right in the chest. He falls to the ground and I see a single tear fall out of his eye
"Rey. Thomas" Chuck mumbles I turned to see Chuck standing there, red soaking his shirt quickly. Chuck was shot. He saved my life.
"Chuck." I say as I catch him and lay him on the ground "Chuck. Look at me." I say with tears coming to my eyes "It's okay." He mumbles I try my best to stop the bleeding when I see him reach into his pocket and give Thomas his craving. "Take it" he tells Thomas. Thomas hesitantly takes it. Then he reaches into his other pocket and pulls out a craved heart with his name craved in it. "Take it" he says "Chuck no please please don't go" I cry "Please take it" he says I take the heart and I hear him say "Always and forever" before he stops breathing "Chuck?... Chuck! CHUCK NO PLEASE!!!!" I scream I hear Thomas screaming but I'm to focused on Chuck to hear what he is saying
"CHUCK PLEASE WE MADE IT! WERE FREE PLEASE CHUCK!! CHUCK!" I scream "I promised you Chuck !!! You and I, Always and forever! Please Chuck come back!!" I scream as I feel people pick me up "No!" I scream trying to get away from them but They start to drag me away "You can't just leave him there!! Please!!" I scream but it's to late, they had dragged me outside already
They put me into a helicopter with everyone else, tears still falling out of my eyes. Then a man speaks up "Don't worry kids. Everything's going to change" he says
I just sit next to Thomas and look at the heart Chuck gave me. It has his blood on it. My hands are covered with his blood. So many's boys blood.. on my hands.
I lean my head on Thomas shoulder and look outside to see the place where I lived for three years. The place that brought me so much pain. Then I close my eyes falling asleep trying to keep the image of Chuck dying out of my head.
Ava Paige walks in wiping the fake blood off her head "The maze trail were a success. I wasn't expecting this many survivors but the more the merrier. Thomas continues to impress and Reyna continues to show why she is so important to us" "Time to move on to phase two" she adds, the scientist nods their head as she walks off.
