I don't know why Vihang was acting different. Something was definitely wrong. "You know we are not friends and neither are you my boyfriend nor brother, so stop acting like you own me asshole." I told Vihang politely trying my best to not create any scene.
He took a step closer. I could smell his cologne and for some unknown reason it feel awkward which was surprisingly weird. "You don't wanna dance with a guy like Chirag. Trust me little sparrow, I know." I narrowed my eyes and opened my mouth to reply when Sid and Abheer came back with drinks and food.
I immediately took the drinks from them and drank all the three cocktails in one go. Everyone was looking at me shocked. "Wow easy there tiger. What's wrong with you?" Sid asked with concerned but this was the second time today when I saw Vihang and was so close to him. And I wanted to make it clear to him that I can dance with whoever I wanted to. "I was not drunk enough to dance so just changing that." I told Sid without breaking eye contact with Vihang. I removed my heels and went straight to the dance floor.
The drinks I had five minutes ago came rushing back in my throat maybe because I had only eaten one plate of pav bhaji since morning which I had in breakfast. After Sid and I left college, we first went shopping and then we went to the salon where I got a new haircut. This took most of the day. When we met Isha at the salon, she told us about this party some juniors were organizing so Sid decided to attend it because according to him what's better than a new dress and a new haircut with free alcohol for a perfect breakup party.
I think I was about to fall when a strong hand held me and a familiar voice reached my ears. When I turned to look it was none other than Vihang. "Drink."He said and his hand was still holding me by my waist. I gave him a puzzled look and he gestured towards the glass of water in his other hand. "Thank you but I'm fine." I told him giving him a fake smile when suddenly I felt nauseous and lost balance. I would have fallen down if Vihang was not holding me more tightly. "Now be a good girl and drink this lemon water or I will have to force it down your throat." Vihang told me giving me the glass. I did not complain and took the glass from him.
Just as i finished my drink the dj played a slow song for all the couples to dance. It was then I realized that he was still holding me. "Guys you have to dance and not stand like statues. C'mon you two don't kill the mood." Vartika said just as I was about to leave.Wait a minute, dance, that too with Vihang asshole Ahuja.
I was thinking if he even knows how to dance when he grabbed my hand and placed it on his shoulder and started dancing. I obviously had to match his steps because he actually knew how to dance. "Glad to know you are good at something other than being arrogant and playing basketball." I said only to make things less awkward.
Vihang chuckled and it make me scoff. Though this was the first time we were dancing together but it didn't feel that bad. His steps were perfectly matching mine as if we were practicing together from years. "Seems like someone is too eager to know everything about me." He said with a smug expression.
I rolled my eyes then saw Sid and Abheer from over Vihang's shoulder and decided to focus on them. They were laughing and giggling on each-other's wrong steps. "Will I ever find the kind of love Sid and Abheer have?" I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't even realize that I said this out loud and in front of Vihang of all people. I closed my eyes tightly in regret waiting for Vihang to laugh at my face.
"Of course you will. Yours will be a love story just like the novels you read all day." Vihang said removing a strand of hair from my face and tucked it behind my ear. I opened my eyes hoping that he said it mocking me and was laughing .But to my surprise he wasn't. Both Vihang and I stood there frozen looking at each other when the song changed. He immediately let go of me and disappeared.
"Are you looking for someone P? You seem distracted." Sid asked me while we were dancing. I was looking for Vihang. The way he said those words, I don't know why but it didn't seem sarcastic. There was something different in his tone. Like he was saying the truth and my hearts wanted to believe him.
"I was um. I was looking for Vihang. Everyone is dancing but where is he?" I asked hoping Sid would not ask why I was so concerned about Vihang. He just disappeared when the song changed. "Vihu bhai hates dancing." Abheer said and shrugged his shoulders.
Then why did he just danced with me. And how can someone who claims to hate dancing be so good at it. "But he- never mind" I didn't tell them that he just danced with me because if they didn't notice then me telling them would make things awkward. And obviously I didn't want Sid to think otherwise about either me or his brother.
"Umm he's just a weirdo that way." Sid said rolling his eyes. There were too many thoughts running in my mind and I was getting tired so I decided to get back to our table and rest for a while. Vartika came with me because she was sobering up so she needed a drink. Sometimes her drinking skills amaze me
"you and Vihu looked good dancing together." She said removing her heels and ordered a drink for her and normal water for me. I didn't even know what to say. So I smiled and thanked her when I saw Aryan and his friends entering the club and panicked. Vartika calmed me down and went to find everyone so that we could leave as soon as possible because I didn't want to create any scene here.
