Eight: Fangs

It had only been a couple of minutes since they had attacked but it felt like a lifetime. I know that this was a test on behalf of the King and Queen but also a defensive move on their guards because they thought I was attacking them. Well done Hermione, stir up the hornet's nest. Vampires were fast but I was faster, dodging their attacks before sending stunning spells their way that only seem to agitate them more. It was then I said, "I'm not attacking the Queen nor the King." One just snarled in protest stating, "You lie mutt." Rolling my eyes I was done being on the defensive, quickly sending out a surge of power the sent them back a few feet. Knowing my eye were glowing red, my fangs out on display; I snarled out "I do not have time to waste with those who will not listen." The vampires looked on in awe and shock, with some looking on in anger. Half transformed, I prepared for more attacks.

One came up from behind me, swiftly sidestepping and throwing a punch sending the poor bastard flying into the pillar, chunks flying off it scattering across the ground. Another attack, the vampires face twisted into a snarl, fangs gleaming and rage in its orange eyes. Ducking back as his claw swiped at me, and took two steps before sending an uppercut to its jaw. The bright blonde vampire got thrown up and then back from the power of my punch. His body rolling a couple feet and he surprisingly didn't get back up but I could hear his sluggish heartbeat so he was still alive.

My bloodlust had begun building, a slowly I could feel a grin working its way on my face as the dark power surrounded me. Suddenly a huge burly vampire stood before me with a matching grin, funnily enough his braided hair was died a bright blue that reduce his intimating factor, as was his beard. What an odd sight indeed. Scars and Viking-like tattoos covered his body as he stood bare chested before me, his eyes glowing blue also.

I noted that most vampires had different eye colours depending on status and age. Blue was a powerful master vampire so I crouched down, defensive up as I could feel the power rolling off him in waves. The fight between us already felt different before it had begun and I felt as if this was a test, some of the vampires coming out, creating a circle for our fight. They won't interfere, why? Waiting patiently for him to move, he spoke "So, you are the great Alpha. The great protector of the Mythical creature aye?" His grin widened as he growled out, "Let see what you're made of little wolf." I didn't have time to dwell on what language he spoke in because in a blink, he was in front of me.

The vampire attack with ferocity, and I snarled out in retaliation as he landed a hit that felt like I was being hit with truck. I felt my ribs break under his meaty fist but made no sound despite the pain. He laughed before that was cut off by my own fist connected with his own stomach, sending a wandless powerful stunning spell that actually send his massive frame a few feet back. He laughed in joy as he smiled, fangs on display stating, "HA! You are worthy opponent little wolf! This shall be fun!" My annoyance grew at not knowing what he was saying, the foreign language that I had never heard before.

He disappeared before reappearing beside me; barely dodging his massive attacks with his arms moving in a blur, I danced back of wide swing and noticing he was open; I stepped forward sending my fist into his sternum while simultaneously wandlessly casting a Incendio. Ignoring the pain as the flame engulfed my first and spread across his chest. The smell of burning flesh reached my nose, feeling both sick and elated that I managed a hit. He shrieked out in agony as the flames quickly spread, his eyes showed rage at my trick and his hand came down fast and with no time to move, all I could was brace myself.

I was sent flying into a wall, or should I say through it. My growl echoed throughout the room, I could feel the need to transform but I didn't want to so I shoved it down despite knowing the pain it would cause later. My bloodlust was at a high too and I was battling the fury that was near overwhelming and the desire to shift. Slowly entering the room again, with pieces of the wall falling off my body. Noticing with satisfaction that his chest was signed red and cuts across his body that healed slowly. I could feel the cuts, bites and bruises that began healing across my own body.

An overwhelming sense of power overcame the room, and it wasn't from the me or my opponent. It nearly brought me to my knees, but I bowed for absolutely no one but Bellatrix and put strain on my legs as they shook. Some vampires dropping to their knees and others bowing their heads in submission. The kings voice rang throughout the room with his command, "That is enough, I would rather not loose anymore children today." The vampires immediately backed down, some hissing at me but I ignored them.

The big opponent I had been facing stepped toward me with a grin, his hand engulfing mine pulling me into a bear hug. "You are a fun one to fight! We must do this again aye?" His voice bellowed out in his joy. I was in slight disbelief at the burly man before me, his happiness was contagious. Letting out a chuckle replying with, "Gladly, I want to see who will win. Hermoine Romanoff." He guffawed before saying, "Don't be so eager little Wolf. I am Bjorn Northman and you are a fellow warrior that I look forward to seeing on the battlefield!" and with that he walked off to the side to help up his companion. I say help, I mean he literally just picked the poor man off the floor and strolled off with the groaning fledgling over his shoulder whistling away a tune that resonated around the halls.

I could feel Bella's presence in my mind but I assured her I was fine, and would retell the tail later tonight if I got the chance before she disappeared off doing Bellatrix things. The King himself walked towards me, eyeing me with a contemplative gaze before it morphed into an impressed look. "I must say, you have impressed us Hermione Romanoff. Not many can face Bjorn and live, yet here you stand. Your kind...tend to avoid us yet you walk right into our coven with no fear. You are an interesting creature Romanoff. You will make a fine Alpha one day." Proud that I had managed to impress the King himself, he asked, "Tell me child, do you know who I am?" I shook my head before he extended his arms outward, bowing saying "Then please allow me to introduce myself to you."

He disappeared into a cloud of bats before re-appearing next to his wife, mate, fated one? "I have been known throughout the centuries by many names, one in particular the humans loved. A beast, shadow of the night but my personal favourite Vlad the Impaler. I was also told through many tales regarding a certain count Dracula." My eyes widened as I had been taught about Vlad the Impaler in muggle school. He sighed muttering, "They never got my nose right." I withheld my laughter as he continued.

"My name is Vladislaus Dragulia, you may call me Vlad, Dracula or by my full name if you so wish; I do not particularly care. My wife-" who he walked over to kissing her hand delicately, his black eyes shining up, staring up at her with affection "-was once sent to kill me. A hunter and a tale that has been twisted throughout time. Victoria Van Helsing was her name before marrying me." Awe ran through me as I connected the dots. The great Count Dracula and the greatest hunter in human tales, Van Helsing, were fated ones.
