Vaani stirred awake, her fingers instinctively brushing against the soft strands of hair tickling her collarbone. The touch was unfamiliar for half a second, too warm, too alive. Blinking sleepily, she glanced down, and her heart stuttered in a way that felt almost painful.

Shivank was curled up against her chest, tucked into her like he belonged there. His face looked younger in sleep, unguarded, lashes resting against his cheeks, the sharpness he carried while awake softened into something almost fragile.

His breath fanned against her skin, steady and warm, and his weight pressed into her like he was anchoring himself, afraid of drifting away even in sleep.

A slow blush crept up her cheeks, heat spreading before she could stop it. Carefully, almost reverently, her fingers slipped into his hair. She stroked it gently, slow and soothing, as if he were something precious that might vanish if she startled him.
