Vaani sighed, the kind of sigh that carried both irritation and fondness, the kind she never bothered hiding around him anymore.
“You’re so stubborn. I have the money, here, keep this!”
She pressed the folded notes into his hand and turned toward the stove before he could argue, reaching for the pan to toast the pav. Her lips kept moving, muttering complaints she did not bother finishing.
Shivank watched her for a second, the way her hair fell forward as she leaned slightly, the familiar domestic ease of her movements. He shook his head, stepped closer until their arms brushed, and said lightly,
“Arre, tum mere paas ho na, toh mere paise udhao.” (You’re with me, right? So go ahead and spend my money.)
She turned sharply, glare quick and honest, eyes flashing with something far deeper than irritation.
