He stopped the bike in front of the building, the engine still humming beneath them, but Vaani did not move, her fingers frozen around the edge of his shirt as if stepping away from him would make something inside her finally break, and without looking at her, without softening even a little, he said flatly, "We have reached."
Vaani slowly got down, wiping the tears that refused to stop, then turned to look at him, waiting, hoping, searching for something in his face, but he only murmured, distant and cold, "Goodbye... we will meet in Somnath." as he restarted the bike.
