That night, Delilah decided on wearing a short black dress, let her hair down and put on makeup. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. What was she going to do? Elizabeth wanted her to give Steve a chance, but she didn't see herself with him. He had done some pretty messed up things in his past. He raped one of their maids and she had a son, Tommy, five years old. Delilah had raised him as her own. Tina, the maid, wasn't too maternal towards the kid. Delilah fell in love with the boy as soon as he was born, so she took him under her wing.

She looked at herself in the mirror one more time, and left her room. As she was climbing down the stairs, a man rushed past her and almost made her trip. "Watch it, you moron!" She yelled holding to the railing. The man stood still, with his face down. "What are you waiting for? Apologize!"

"I'm sorry, my lady. I hope no harm has come to you." He said with an accent. He climbed down the rest of the stairs and stood next to the door, where Nigel and Elizabeth waited for her.

His voice, and the way he talked to her with respect, made her skin crawl and feel things she had never felt before. Nigel cleared his throat making her come back to her senses. "Del, this is Kahil, the new doorman. Kahil, can you make sure the car is ready? Please."

"Right away, sir." The man said walking outside.

Delilah stared after him. Olive colored skin, black hair tied to the back. Elizabeth couldn't take her eyes off Delilah. She had felt the same things Delilah was feeling when she first saw the newcomer.

"Lisa, make sure you keep an eye on Del. Specially when that damn doorman is around. She can't seem to take her eyes off him. The last thing I need is my niece fooling around with a member of the staff." He said as Delilah finally walked towards them.

"Of course, honey. I'll keep my eye on her." Elizabeth said, smiling up at him. "She'll be fooling around with whomever I want." She thought as he guided them out of the house.

When they arrived at John Dayton's house, both father and son came out to greet them. Steve couldn't take his eyes off Delilah. Maria, John's wife, who was also Delilah's age and Elizabeth's best friend, came out to greet Elizabeth without acknowledging anyone else.

After dinner, John and Nigel retired to John's study, and Maria took Elizabeth up to her room, leaving Delilah and Steve alone.

"I had to see you; this pregnancy is driving me insane." Maria said slumping into a chair rubbing her swollen belly. "I'm too big and tired to leave the house and you don't come visit me."

"Did you tell Steve he is the father already?" Elizabeth asked, taking the seat next to her.

"Oh, I don't have to tell him. He knows his old father is shooting blanks. I can't stand John these days. All he wants to do is have sex. I don't know how much I'll be able to take. You made it seem so easy, when you married Nigel."

"There's a difference, I do love Nigel. You are disgusted by John. I told you not to do it."

"My parents were pressuring me into marrying into wealth. I couldn't just marry any guy from the club, they haven't come into their wealth yet. You really love Nigel, Lisa? You didn't do it for the money?"

"Well, when we first started dating, I was with him for the money, but I learned to love him."

"Hey, what's wrong with Miss Delilah? She didn't make any remark when I practically insulted her at dinner."

"I'm playing a game with her. Supposedly, Nigel promised her to some guy. But you know me, I don't want anything good for her. So I told her Nigel was sick and that his last wish is to see her married. I'm trying to convince her to try something with Steve, that would make her so miserable. But she is so set on feelings."

"You are evil. Do you think she'll actually listen to you?"

"I don't know, I tried my best to convince her, she said she would try."

"You must have a backup plan."

"I do. The new doorman. He took her breath away, I saw how she melted when she saw him. I would do anything to see that happen."

"You are unbelievable."

"She doesn't deserve a happy ending."

"You got yours, though. And she is Nigel's niece, shouldn't you play nice?"

"Mary, after the way she treated us in high school. So high and mighty and always being a snob. Having all the boys always slobbering over her. No, it's her time to be unhappy for once."
