"Maria, things aren't going the way I planned." Elizabeth said to her friend.
"What happened now?"
"Well, this mysterious guy really caught Delilah's attention. So, she crossed Steve off her list for good. This morning, he stormed into the house demanding Delilah to tell him what she did with this Kay dude, then he slapped her, leaving a nasty mark on her face!"
"Oh my God. What if Nigel finds out about your little game?"
"That's what I am worried about."
"He could even divorce you."
"That won't happen. I have my insurance."
"What is it?" Maria asked curiously.
"I'm pregnant."
That night, during dinner they were very quiet. Nigel couldn't take his eyes off Delilah's face and Elizabeth was nervous. "What is it, Ni?" She asked.
"Lisa, remind me to reprimand the maids in the morning."
"Why? What happened now?" Elizabeth asked.
"I don't know what kind of soap they used to clean Del's bathroom floor that she slipped. Look at her face." He said, pointing to Delilah's face.
"Papa, don't. It was my fault. Lately I've been a little clumsy." Delilah said.
"Hey, guys. I have great news." Elizabeth said, standing up. "I'm pregnant." She said holding her stomach.
"Oh my God!" Nigel said happily standing next to Elizabeth and hugging her tight. "I'm going to be a father. One of my dreams came true. You hear that Del?"
"Yes, I'm very happy for both of you." Delilah said, faking a smile.
Kahil went to answer the door and found Steve on the other side. "What can I do for you, sir?"
"Don't play games with me, whoever you are."
"What can I do for you?" Kahil repeated, ignoring Steve's accusations.
"Tell Delilah I'm here."
"She can't receive you."
"Who says?"
"I do." Kahil said, looking into Steve's face and getting on his way.
"This fantasy you're living won't last too long. Delilah will know who you are."
"I don't know what you mean, sir."
"Let me in."
"I can't do that."
"If you don't let me in, I'll start yelling."
"Alright, come in. Wait in the living room." Kahil said, walking towards the dining room. "Excuse me, Ms. Thornton."
"Kahil, we are in the middle of dinner." Elizabeth said.
"Yes, Kahil?" Delilah asked.
"Mister Steve Dayton wants to see you." Kahil said.
"Um, I can't right now."
"Delilah, don't keep your guest waiting, less one you know so well." Nigel said.
"Right, I'll be right there." Delilah said to Kahil.
After Delilah left the dining room, Kahil stopped her. "Ms. Thornton, please be careful." He said holding her arm.
"Come with me, please."
"As you wish." He followed her to the living room.
"Delilah, you're coming with me." Steve said, grabbing her arm.
"Excuse me?" She asked, pulling free and looking back at Kahil who had just entered the living room.
"What is this idiot doing here?" Steve asked.
"I asked him to come with me."
"He's fooling you, Delilah, can't you see? Have you ever seen his face?" Steve asked, walking up to Kahil.
"No, I don't need to see it."
"Well, you should." Steve stood very close to Kahil.
Steve grabbed Kahil's hair and forced him to look at Delilah. "Kay?" She asked, confused.
"Are you really going to exchange me for a servant?" Steve asked, letting go of Kahil's hair.
"If I love that servant, yes. Steve, leave my house. Now!" She said almost crying while Steve stormed out.
Kahil looked at Delilah who had slumped into a chair and hadn't stopped sobbing. He walked towards her. "Delilah..."
"Never in my life I thought this would happen." She said, looking at him. He knelt in front of her and took her hands in his.
"I'm sorry I fooled you." He said kissing her hands. "I'm so sorry."
"And here I was thinking I had fallen in love with two different men. Who are you really?"
"My name is Kahil, many call me Kay. And I am from Italy."
"Are you a servant?"
"I am what I am, Delilah."
"Why did you have to come and ruin my life?"
"What do you mean?" He asked, confused, standing up.
"We can't be together!"
"You haven't changed. You are still the same shallow girl I met a few days ago."
"You don't understand." She said standing next to him.
He grabbed her hands and kissed them again. "What's to understand? We love each other. That is all that matters, Delilah."
She slowly pulled her hands away. "I'm sorry, but that's not all. I'm so sorry, Kahil. I can't. It's too hard." She said, walking away, leaving him alone.
"What have we done to you?" Nigel asked Kahil in his study.
"Nothing, sir. I just feel I am not good for this job."
"But, son, you've done such a great job so far. I'm just asking you, can you stay until I can hire a new doorman? Just give me a few weeks."
"Okay, sir, I will." Kahil said leaving the study and crashing into Elizabeth in the hallway.
"You wanted to quit. So, you were the mysterious man from the club. The famous Kay. I supposed Delilah rejected you, there's no other reason to quit."
"My problems with Delilah are not your business. And for your information, your husband doesn't want me to quit."
"I told you once that I can help you with her, the offer still stands."
"I don't need or want your help. Excuse me."
"I can get you fired if you keep talking to me like that."
"Do it then. But, you'll be sorry one day." He said turning and leaving her with her mouth open.
