"I can't believe she's gone." Delilah told Elizabeth as she held Tommy one week after Julie's death.

"Delilah, you have to stop worrying yourself so much. Think about Tommy."

"Elizabeth, she was my only friend. And it seemed I barely knew her. I can't believe she forgave Steve and married him."

"Some people like to keep secrets. Maybe she thought you wouldn't understand."

"Miss Thornton." Kahil said from the doorway.

"Yes, Kahil?" Delilah asked.

"There are two men wanting to speak to you." He said motioning outside the door.

"Show them in." Delilah said, putting Tommy on the floor and standing up, while two men dressed in suits walked to the living room.

"Which one of you is Delilah Thornton?" One of the men asked.

"That would be me."

"I'll leave, I'll take Tommy." Elizabeth said, grabbing Tommy's hand and leaving.

"Please, make yourselves comfortable." Delilah said as the men sat down. "What can I do for you?"

"We have orders to take Tom Dayton with us."

"What? Why?"

"Mr. Steve Dayton has been granted full custody of his son. Either you take the child willingly to him or we take him now."

"I... I..." She couldn't speak.

"She will take him. Until when does she have to?" Kahil asked, putting his arm around her shoulders, holding her.

"She has two days. Glad we could settle this in a civilized way." They rose to their feet.

"I'll show you to the door." Kahil said leaving Delilah for a moment while he walked the men out. He quickly returned to her side and hugged her. "I'm here. I'm so sorry, I know how much Tommy means to you."

"He's everything to me. It's like he is my own. I can't believe Steve is doing this to me. I'm going to talk to him right now. He won't take Tommy from me." She said looking up at him.

"I'll go with you." He said, rubbing her back.

She put her hand on his chest and took a deep breath. "No, Kahil. Your presence there will only worsen things. This is something I have to do on my own." She grabbed the back of his neck and pulled his lips to hers.

"Be careful." He said when she finally stopped kissing him.

"I will, and when I get back we are going to talk, okay?" She said leaving.

While she drove, she thought about Kahil. She loved him too much to let him slip away. When she returns from Steve's house she'll tell him, and they'll live happily together. When she got to Steve's house, she saw a truck taking boxes out of the house. She entered the house and saw it bare. In the living room, leaning against a wall, Maria was crying.

"Maria, what is wrong?" She asked, walking towards her.

"Oh, nothing, my hormones. I'm just exhausted." Maria said, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.

"Okay, um, do you know where Steve is?"

"He's up in his room." She said pointing up the stairs.

"Thanks." Delilah climbed the stairs and walked towards Steve's room. When she arrived the door was opened and Steve was packing things into boxes. She knocked as he raised his head and smiled. "Can I come in?"

"Sure."

"What's happening?" She asked as she walked into the room and saw only his bed and boxes all around the room.

"Um, we are moving, dad wants to remodel the house." He motioned her to take a seat on the bed. "So, what is it? What are you doing here?"

"I came to talk to you. You can't take Tommy away from me."

"I think I just did." He said smiling again.

"But why, Steve? You never cared about him before. Why now?" She asked, furiously.

"Because he is my son. The only reason I wasn't there for him before was because Julie didn't want me near him."

"They won't let you have him, you raped Julie."

He started laughing. "You know what? She never accused me of raping her. And look, we both went together to register the damn kid. We even got married!"

"You're punishing me."

"You bet I am. I will take that kid from you, and you will never see him again."

"Steve! What do I have to do to keep him? I'll do anything!"

"Marry me!"

"Are you insane?"

"I'm capable of killing the kid and making it look like an accident."

"You... you wouldn't do that."

"Is that a dare, sweety?"

"Steve, don't do this to me."

"If you don't marry me in two days, as soon as I have him in my hands, we will disappear and you will never see or hear from him again."

"In two days? That is too soon." She said with tears in her eyes.

"Yes, you will go home now, looking happy." He said, grabbing her hands and lifting her off the bed. He placed his arm around her shoulders and walked her to the door. "You will go to your uncle and you will tell him that we love each other and can't live another day apart. So, we are getting married in two days. You'll do that, right?"

She looked at him scared. She nodded slowly. "I will." She whispered.

"Oh, and another thing. You will put an end to that whim you have for the damn doorman. Even after we are married, I can make Tommy disappear. If I see you alone with Kahil, goodbye Kahil. And if you tell anyone about this, you are dead. Are we clear?"

"Yes, Steve."

"Good, now go home, do everything I told you and kiss our son." He said as she ran out of the house.
