"Mrs. Thornton?" A maid asked Elizabeth, who was reading a magazine on the terrace.
"Yes, Julie?"
"Phone for you, it's Mrs. Dayton."
"Thank you." Elizabeth said, taking the phone from the maid's hand and dismissing her with her hand. "Maria, what is it?"
"You're not going to believe this."
"What is it?"
"I went out to the club today and I saw Delilah with Steve, then suddenly this man that looked like he came out of some historical fiction romance novel walks towards them. He practically threw Steve away from Delilah. Later, I see them walk hand in arm towards her car. Steve is fuming."
"Oh my God. What do you know about this guy?"
"Well, his name is Kay. He's gorgeous I tell you. And I heard he's from Italy, although he doesn't look it."
"Kay? That's all you know?"
"That's the only name he gave. Apparently his family has been club members for years, but couldn't get the last name."
"If you find something else, tell me, okay?"
"You bet, bye."
"Bye." Elizabeth said hanging up and slamming the phone on the table.
"Is something wrong, madam?" Kahil asked, walking towards her.
"Kahil, where were you all morning?"
"I was running some errands for your husband."
"He asked you to run some errands for him?"
"Yes, madam."
"Do you like Delilah?"
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, do you like her? Do you want her?"
"Madam, I don't think this is a conversation we should be having." He said, trying to walk away.
"Oh, but it is. Because if you do like her, I can help you."
"Look, with all due respect, I know my place. And my place isn't looking at any of my superiors like that."
"But what if she felt the same things for you?"
"If I may be excused, please, madam."
"No, I'm talking to you. I will give you anything you want if you make Delilah your wife."
"I don't see that happening, we are from different worlds."
"You can make that change, I can make you a very rich man and you wouldn't have to pretend."
"Pretend?"
"Tell me, Kahil, where are you from?" She asked as he lifted his face and stared at her, then walked away.
That night, Steve came to the house. Kahil opened the door. "Good evening, sir. How can I help you?" Kahil asked, keeping his head down.
"Tell Delilah Steve Dayton is here to see her." He said while Kahil turned around. "Wait. Do I know you from somewhere?"
"I doubt it, sir. I've only been working here for two days." Kahil said, keeping his back to him. Then he went to the library where Delilah was reading, keeping his head down. "Excuse me, my lady. Your friend Steve Dayton is here to see you."
"Tell him I had a headache and went to bed." She said, trying to look at his face.
"Yes, my lady." Kahil left her and went to the living room where Steve waited. "Sir, I was told Ms. Thornton had a headache and retired to bed."
"Why is it that I don't believe that?"
"Believe what you want, sir. Now, the exit is this way."
"No, tell Mrs. Thornton that I need to see her."
"Mister and Mrs. Thornton retired to bed an hour ago. We were told not to disturb them."
"Damn, alright. Tomorrow you will tell Lisa and Delilah that I have to see them. Try not to screw up and do it individually."
"Yes, sir. Have a good night." Kahil said, closing the door in his face.
"Thank you, Kahil." Delilah said, getting her coat from the closet. "If anyone asks for me, except Steve of course, tell them I went to take a stroll down at the beach." She said turning around. She stopped and turned back. "Would you like to accompany me?"
"I would love to, but I was warned about leaving my post."
"Oh, okay. See you later."
She felt strange. She had stopped walking now for a few minutes. Something filled the air. She felt someone was there watching her. She sat down in the sand and stared at the water. There was someone there. Maybe it was Steve. Now she would have to deal with him. No, it couldn't be him. Maybe it was her heart longing to have someone there with her. She closed her eyes and felt the wind caressing her face. Kahil, Kay. What was happening to her? She had feelings for two different people. It wasn't supposed to happen like that.
She felt someone touch her cheek, she leaned into it. It felt so real. Maybe because it was real. She quickly opened her eyes and saw Kay squatting in front of her looking into her eyes. The wind flapped his hair around his face.
"Hello, Ms. Thornton. How are you doing this evening?"
"God, Kay! What are you doing here?"
"Damsel in distress, I heard your calling." He said with a smile that warmed her heart.
"Have you been watching me?"
"I decided to call on you, but it was too late. I came by and saw you come out of your house and into the beach, couldn't stop staring. Hope I'm not crossing any lines. I can leave if you want me to."
"No, you just startled me. I would really enjoy your company." She said as he sat real close to her. His thigh brushed against hers. Her heart was beating fast.
"This is a beautiful view." He said looking at her.
"It sure is. I love coming here, it helps me calm down when I have a lot in my mind."
"And what is bothering you this evening, dear?" He nudged her with his shoulder.
"Feelings, I'm confused."
"I hope it's not I the person that is confusing you."
"I'm confusing myself. I don't understand what is going on."
"Mind if I help you clear up your mind some?"
"How would you do that?"
He kneeled in front of her and grabbed the back of her neck. He slowly lowered his face and met her lips. It was such a passionate kiss, mixed with lots of emotion. She meant the kiss. She had wanted to be kissed. She opened herself to him as she had never opened to anyone before.
He laid her on the sand and covered her with his body. Holding her tight with one hand while his other one traveled along her body. Her hair ran through his fingers like silk, just as he had imagined it. Her mouth was so soft and inexperienced that she had never been kissed like this. Her hands traveled along his back pulling his shirt off his pants. He tilted her head back to kiss her throat. His hands lifted her skirt and lowered her underwear. He stopped kissing her as he removed his pants, and with one thrust made her his.
